2012 Indian GP: Ticket bookings now open!

Tickets to the 2012 Indian GP (26-28 October) can now be booked and they seem to have some interesting early bird offers!

I guess it's time to start planning

Interested BHPians can check out bookmyshow's offers:
FORMULA 1 2012 AIRTEL GRAND PRIX OF INDIA Tickets on BookMyShow - Vrrrrooom!!! And it's gone!

Also, to BHPians who attended last year, how do the prices compare?

From memory, the tickets seem a little more expensive. I'd made plans to go last year but didn't materialize so this year cost isn't much of a consideration

I really hope they sell only Race-day tickets; and start selling them much before the day before the race!

Also, now they are giving out Parking passes on purchase of 2 tickets (IIRC, it was 3 last year).

More importantly and a very bad move, now the bus service is only from Noida City Centre to BIC. Not cool at all!

Some denominations have changed;
Natural was 2500/-.. now : 3500
Picnic was 6000/- .. now : 3500
Premium was 12500/- .. now : 14k
Main Grand Stand was 35000/-.. now : 30k

Don't know why such a sharp change in Picnic stand. IMO, the best stand to be at was Star Stand 1 East.

Wasn't the star stand east 6500 last year? It's 8500 this year. I really likes these seats, coz you get to see extreme braking from people coming off the straight - perhaps with DRS in force while on the straight.

Nope, it was 8500. I know for sure because I'd paid that much for it!

Re: 2012 Indian GP: Ticket bookings now open!

The only disappointing aspect at BIC was the lack of race timing data.
No GPRS coverage meant live timing data was inaccessible .

Every race i've watch on TV is with live timing, without it I felt a bit lost.
The big screen was not of much help.

Other races have an option for radio commentary headsets. Anyone know if is this will be available?

Yeah. GPRS was a big issue. But Tata Photon worked for me (I thank my stars) and I used my laptop to access Live Timing. I was in Star Stand 1 East

I was in the Classic Stand East last year. Paid 6500 for a ticket. It's the same this year too.

I was there last year, star east if i recall.
And i really envied the picnic stand.
The weather is good enough, and you can lay on the grass, shift positions.
Stand seats, at least where I was- not very comfortable.
Ill go for the picnic stand this year.

Don't want to be the wet blanket here, but I have to say this. From the two GPs that I've been to, it's usually best to wait till the nth hour before you buy your tickets. Remember how the BIC Grand Stand tickets got slashed last year by 50% (IIRC). Plus, if you bought at the last minute, you could get "race day tickets" only. Not like the Indian GP will run out of seats anyways, more so in its 2nd year (the 1st always has people coming for novelty value).

On the other hand, if you're planning to fly down, book those tickets NOW

Couldn't agree more.

Race-day tickets AND race-day parking pass - both were made available only on saturday.

Half of Delhi won't turn up this time around for the race as "they been, done that"

Re: 2012 Indian GP: Ticket bookings now open!

hey folks....what's the feedback on Picnic North stand? I guess we can get views of turn 1, 2 and 3 from there? Also, is it better to book the tickets right now or wait till Sept? I guess Picnic stand will fill fast as the ticket price for that has been cut by 50% since last year.

And if I may ask, how do we get autographs of drivers ? Is there a exclusive session where any fans can meet the drivers for autographs or is it that u need to buy any particular tickets only ??
