2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

The Monte Carlo Circuit - Monaco Nothing much to be said about this circuit which makes overtaking most difficult, anyways, we dont get to see many overtaking moves this year due to tyre degradation.

The only casualty this race is MICHAEL SCHUMACHER'S 5 place Grid penalty, need to see what he does. Also we are now used to a NEW PATTERN, New Race Winner every race, wonder why such an unusual pattern, . But we are loving it

Re: 2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

There have been some track changes for this years monaco grand prix. The barrier in the Nouvelle Chicane has been moved back 14.6 metres. This is where Perez had the big shunt last year, had a concussion and missed the race. Other changes to the bump at the tunnel exit, wider pit exit and escape roads. Cannot get pictures of other changes.

More details here: Monaco GP organisers announce track changes for 2012 race - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com

You can see the changes at around 1.15 mark. This is taken from the Historic Grandprix -

Also an interesting video fo 1957 monaco grand prix. You can really see the elevation changes of the track -

Re: 2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

The crown jewel of all F1 races is here! This should be a mega race. Teams with better qualifying pace will be looking to lock out the front row and manage the race from there.

Will be interesting to see how strategies play out. I am sure though that we will see teams push the Pirellis to their absolute limits only to get it wrong in the race and start losing lap time dramatically towards the end.

Team mate battles will be very interesting here. Will this be the final nail in Massa's coffin?

Re: 2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

I know they hardly stand a chance but I will continue to root for Sahara Force India here as well. Going by the season so far, who is to say that SFI will not win? of finish with excellent points? Qualifying will be where the race will be (other than the unfortunate crashes). With the tire situation and the circuit layout and difficult overtaking, I am thinking the Saturday races will be of utmost importance.
Cancelling all appointments for saturday and sunday and going to go out and buy an UPS or Inverter.

Re: 2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

So far we have seen teams compromising qualifying to have better tires for races. In Monaco, grid position is everything, how will teams handle this? Also you can't wait for last minute to set a timed lap unlike other tracks. Anybody can crash here bringing out red flag, so qualifying is going to be really interesting.

Re: 2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

Alonso was fastest in first practice for the Monaco.

The Renault engine in Heikki' Caterham blew in the tunnel. Huge plume of smoke and oil meant the session was stopped at 80 minutes.

Re: 2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

Good to see Ferrari getting some pace in Monaco and as always Alonso is leading. I hope he takes the pole position on Saturday as well. As for Sunday, well, you just cant predict what may or may not happen after looking at the past five races.

Massa also found some pace this time landing himself in the top 10, for now.

Going by the Permutation and Combination theory...!

This time too we will have a new Winner, and hopefully Schumi on the Podium.

5 races down and things are now getting PREDICTABLE

Re: 2012 F1- Monaco Grand Prix

Ferrari is not very comfortable in Monaco. Alonso came very close to the top step last season only for the red flag to save Vettel in the end.

There was limited running in both practice, but Massa looks comfortable in the F2012. And that means only one thing, the car is better to drive. Let's see what Alonso can get out of it.

Lotus has a very good chance as well. And going by the season so far, it reads very well for Lotus indeed. But they really need to work on the strategy.

Hope Kimi gets the E20' steering to his liking.

How about a new team winning this GP? Lotus, Sauber or SFI
