Re: The 2013 Formula One Season

As much as I would love to, it would just be plain stupid of RBR to put Kimi n Vettel in the same team.

Remember, Kimi is no Mark Webber when it comes to being the calm one and Christian Horner is no Ross Brawn when it comes to team orders.

Re: The 2013 Formula One Season

Kimi going to Red Bull is clearly on the cards, otherwise Horner would not have been talking so much about it. It seems like it is down to Kimi now.

I feel it will also do Vettel a lot of good, many (me included) believe he's had it very easy and going up against Kimi will sort things out.

Sorry.. But you are twisting the story. He said "We". The article itself has a misleading title. He did not "blame" the team. He is saying the obvious and i don't see anything wrong with that.

Not my words. I'm just quoting the articles, and his words.
Pity he doesn't have a more competitive teammate to set a proper benchmark.

Exactly what the team needs to hear. this is the 3rd year running that Ferrari have either started or falling behind.
Not good enough and unacceptable for a team that wants to win the Championship. Canada didnt help, they were slower than the Red Bulls on race pace too, Monaco was worse.

He always uses "We"

Re: The 2013 Formula One Season

Kimi to RedBull will be very good for PR, but I'm not sure if it will happen.

At RedBull, Kimi cannot be seen as a long-term replacement for Vettel. It is conceivable that Vettel may leave for Ferrari in two years time (after 2015 season) and Kimi might also retire again at that time (he will be 35+ at the end of 2015 season). This could be one reason why RB might not offer a seat to Kimi. However, RB have a history of keeping older drivers (Webber and Coulthard before him). So if Kimi can commit to RB for more than 2 years, then Kimi might be offered a seat. Then again, Kimi committing to anything more than 2 years at this stage of his career also is doubtful.

Re: The 2013 Formula One Season

The FIA are set to change rules regarding the Young Driver Test, allowing teams to use race drivers on the condition that no new parts and telemetry be allowed.
Teams can still run rookie drivers with both items mentioned above.

Feel they will split running between existing and young drivers.

This is assuming Ferrari is doing better than Red Bull then right ?

I am not sure Vettel cares about brand or glamour more than statistics and records. I think he's going to beat Schumi in terms of world championships.

Otherwise it would be career suicide :

Re: The 2013 Formula One Season

He has, as all top F1 drivers do, a clause in his RBR contract which dictates he can leave RBR if the team becomes very uncompetitive any time he wants. So Vettel definitely would only leave if Ferrari are competitive after the regulation change.

On a side note, I can't believe the race is only a few days away. I wish all F1 races had such a short gap : ). I think NASCAR has many more races a year than F1(or was it Indy) although they are domestic only.

May not necessarily be doing better, but atleast appear to have better potential for the next 4-5 years. For eg: if RB lose Newey, then the equation could be different.

When Hamilton quit McLaren last season, was Merc doing better than McLaren? Schumi left Benetton (with whom he won two consecutive WDCs) to join Ferrari who weren't on top of the world in 1996.

British GP - Silverstone : Disgusting to say the least. Can the Brits still not make proper kerbs? Also, what are Pirelli up to?

My heart goes out to Massa, fantastic start and this is the second time he got hit by something not his creation. He was getting back into the groove. I hope the trauma does not get him.

Pirelli strengthens tyres after Silverstone blowouts

Quote:
The rear tyres' internal belt will be made of Kevlar at the Nurburgring this weekend rather than the usual steel.
Then for the Hungarian Grand Prix at the end of July, Pirelli will revert to its 2012 construction, which is different to that used this year.

Re: The 2013 Formula One Season

Game over for Ferrari & Lotus! The championship is going to be a straight fight between the Redbull & Mercedes.

Goes well with Hamilton's new found hope of winning this year's championshp! This sport is becoming a farce
