Or 3 and 4 might swap. But if this is right it's still an achievement for me !
Expecting a 3rd from Perez is too much IMO.
I don't think Perez will make it big right from the start. He has some time to go definitely; yes he drives well but he isn't much a consistent driver as you would have seen in the last season.
My prediction would be:
1.Alonso
2.Vettel
3.Hamilton
4.Button

True , but my predictions were a little bit more biased towards the car + driver combo than just a single element. Also I mixed it up a bit because Melbourne is somewhat of a wild card right - nobody knows anything until the car actually touches the track ?!

I do think Perez has a good shot at pole in Melbourne though, Perez is no Hamilton but I think he's got qualities that may embarrass Button. I mean he's driving a McLaren, most of the job is already done .

Also my prediction is based on order of vehicle superiority. Regardless I would love to see your prediction simply because I'm an Alonso and Hamilton adorer.

Re: 2013 F1- Australian Grand Prix

Aha, so it begins.
I spent all of the off-time trying to justify Perez to my mind, but I still cant until I see him run the McL.
Heart rules still, but now its two timing, with the Team at mclaren, and the driver in Lewis.

I predict a front row of McL/Mercedes, both in quali, and the race.

Would love to see something like this cos i feel Lewis is in a similar situation, although it may be harder for Lewis to get out and do it :

O yes Sir, in order of vehicle superiority you are spot on.
But in the practice sessions, Mercedes is on the top right? I stand corrected.
If I am not wrong then it was in the Italian GP that Perez put up a spectacular show, climbing through the grid and finishing 2nd i suppose. The over taking maneuvers were just breath taking. It was then that I noticed that given the right car Perez can be quite a tough contender(but later he wasn't as consistent).
(In fact when he switched to Mclaren I said "Next season's big driver is none other than Perez ).
I think, McLaren can be the best car on the track(even better than RBR) but I wonder what's holding them back. I really admire their engineering precision and prowess.
Also, I thought this season Ferrari would be the fastest of the lot but it isn't the case. Still RBR takes the crown of being the fastest.
Let's see what happens this Saturday would be great to see Alonso or Button lead the pack.

This is classic stuff!

Alongside the ex-McLaren driver is Nico Rosberg who remains a Merc man through and through, at least until he gets a confirmed appointment for the rest of his sex change.

Button is said to be delighted that Sergio Perez has replaced Lewis Hamilton and his delight can be summed up in just one word; ‘beatable’.

Re: 2013 F1- Australian Grand Prix

They're back!

And its so nice to hear Martin Brundle and team from Sky on ESPN for FP1. Why can't Fox do the same during the Q and race I wonder. Maybe due those ridiculous commercial breaks.

Waiting for the big boys on track now.

Lap times for FP1:

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2013/03/1...ce-result-fp1/

Oh dear god have mercy on us all - it looks to be another season of hardcore sugar water dominance. (just joking, the field looks much tighter this year).

Hopefully qualifying will show us different results - when its pedal to the metal, then we really get to see who's who.

I suspect the McLarens were running heavy fuel hence missing from the top 6.

On the brighter side Hamilton seems to have given extra pace to Mercedes as expected.

Kudos to Sutil, I think he'll shut up all of his critics this Saturday and Sunday. I expect a P6 finish from him at the least. Clearly another season to show DiResta who's alpha male @ FI.

Re: 2013 F1- Australian Grand Prix

As per me, this season will not be any different than 2012. I predict Vettel running away with the WDC mid-way this season, Alonso and Ferrari might struggle this season with reliabillity issues.

Only guys whom i feel will make headway would be the Iceman and Sutil.

Pole sitters would be

P1- Vettel
P2 - Kimi
P3 - Alonso
P4 - Webber
P5 - Button.

Cant wait for the season to kick off.... Go kimi waiting to hear your car to pit radio again, "Leave me alone, I know what I am doing"

Cant wait for the 1st corner fireworks

Red Bull's are generally slow starters so it wouldn't be a surprise to see hamilton on pole in his first grand prix with the mercedes team!
