2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

The season has kick started with the Iceman taking the podium, Sutil looking stronger than ever, Ferrari aggressive and the Redbulls looks to have something hidden and waiting to unleash.

Mclarens and Mercedes are looking like toothless tigers with their current set-ups. With Rain Predicted through the Qualifying and on Raceday, just hope it does not disrupt the race. RedBulls are already looking strong in their First Practice session.

FP1- Top five teams are clearly Red Bull, Lotus, Ferrari, Mercedes, and Force India.

Re: 2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

Now we'll see a shakedown of standings.
My team dissappointed the last time around, but I expect them to do better. Maybe button uncle in the top 5, and perez getting a point too.

Lewis was good, but faded in australia, but I am quite prepared for him to shock people this time around.
Also hoping for a top 4-5 finish from SFI.....
Too much??

Podium for SFI would be nice! But dreams aside, I think it wouldnt be too much to hope for 4/5 for SFI like Mayankk mentioned. As for the other teams, I hope we get RBR up front.

Car #7 continues to impress. Lotus team lead a practice session for the first time and if it stays dry during qualifying Kimi is looking good to sit on Pole after a long time.

hi there,
I will be there at Sepang just in time for the qualifying, landing like 1430 local time. Anyone else planning for a trip? I am bloody excited about the whole thing, especially since it materialised in just 5days!
Will be rooting for a Ferrari 1-2, but looks like not gonna happen with Kimi and lotus doing so well and then there is always The crooked finger!

Re: 2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

Well after seeing the FP2 today, I can surely say that, Kimi will be in the podium this time too. My prediction is like- Vettel, followed by Alonso/Kimi.

I am expecting a good race from Sutil too, Hopefully in top 5. All eyes set on FP3 and qualifying race tomorrow.

Re: 2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

The sounds coming from RBR camp tend to suggest that they wouldn't have tyres to last the race. They will flourish in Q but race could be between Lotus and Ferrari. Let's wait and see. Vettel fears Red Bull could run out of tyres

Of course, this depends on whether it will rain or not. A dry Q and race at Malaysia will give the biggest hint towards the current pecking order.

Essentially RBR have not found the correct balance for tyre life and pace so they are cribbing. You don't see the others doing that because their overall balance is better. Sounds like a case of sour grapes to me

That, more or less, has always been the case, hasn't it with them? One race, and they're on about how this season has been about tyres, tyres......
Let's see what transpires in the next two days.

Re: 2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

Its not necessarily the degradation that's slowing down the RB, in Q they were able to do a time that was 1 second faster than Alonso's Ferrari. But on Sunday on fresh harder compound tires after pitstop, the Ferrari was 1 second faster than Vettel's RB. Its not degradation in first lap after putting on fresh rubber. It should be a case of finding the balance between the Qualifying and race setup, with higher fuel loads things went bad for RB in OZ.

The Lotus looks like the best package on Sunday and Kimi is at his prime too. This should be ICEMAN's chance to settle the 2005 battle with Nando, now that Kimi has a reliable package compared to the Mclaren firework he was driving in 2005

Brilliant shot of the ICEMAN after FP2 in Sepang

Re: 2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

My prediction for first five Q3 line up:

1) Vettel ( shocking! )
2) Alonso
3) Webber
4) Massa
5) Raikkonen

But what I can guarantee you is Webber will lose positions on first lap.

Re: 2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

FP3 results are interesting! With the sun finally out, it seems that Ferrari have some troubles to sort out. Considering both wet and dry conditions, the most consistent teams seem to be Red bull and (surprise, surprise) Force India!
Cant wait for qualifying.

Re: 2013 F1 - Malaysian Grand Prix

Great effort by Massa and Sutil ! Poor Paul, what bad luck.

I think Sutil can make it to 4th or a 5th on Sunday !

I was right about my Vettel P1 prediction which I was actually hoping would be wrong.

This Vettel is beyond annoying now, why does he keep acting like it's his first time on pole every time ? Was there honestly anything else to expect ? Hope a first lap disaster throws these guys off the track and Sutil gets an edge.
