Hulk seems to be headed for SFI. Good for them !

Kimi is a saint who has tolerated Lotus for so long

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

I'm sure Hulk is now fully clear what the expression "between devil and deep sea" means!

Possible seats for Hulk:
  1. Force India who are yet to clear his arrears from 2012.
  2. Sauber who are yet to pay his 2013 salary in full.
  3. Lotus who are without a means to pay his 2014 salary.
BTW, Just came across an interesting news on Perez in the same site.

Quote:
Perez has had backing from Telmex for most of his career, however it is not certain whether he can count on their support beyond this season when the Mexican telcoms giant is expected to become title sponsor of McLaren.
Source: http://grandprix247.com/2013/11/14/p...rive-for-2014/

If Telmex has agreed to become the title sponsors for McLaren next year, then it explains a lot of recent events including sacking Perez all of a sudden. Everyone expected Perez to stay for 2014 since they needed the sponsorship and McLaren might have got a deal with Telmex where they were not forced to keep Perez.

Without Telmex backing, Perez is going to be in a difficult situation for a 2014 drive.

Pastor Maldonado secures three year deal at Lotus, according to our sources. Quantum sponsorship fails to materialize. Full story soon. #F1

If Hulk has already signed up with Force India, Lotus doesn't have much choice other than going for Maldonaldo, irrespective of the outcome of the deal.

That leaves one seat each at Force India and Sauber left for Perez, diResta, Sutil and Gutierrez to fight over.

If the rumors that Telmex would stick with McLaren are true, what would be the ideal pick for these seats? I hope FI goes back to their 2012 line up and retains diResta, while Sauber can take back Perez.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

Quantum deal will not go through. It is run by a man of Pakistani origin with a very dubious history. The man has a bunch of cases pending against him for example.

A simple google search will reveal much about the very interesting individual that is behind Quantum - Mansoor Ijaz.

Not discounting this shady character, F1 has had its share of shady characters earlier and at present as well; Falvio Briotore, Bernie, etc.

Yes but there is a difference between making noise and having a reason to make the noise. Bernie and bad boy Flavio Briatore are both uber successful filthy rich businessmen, forget how they derived it, it just shows that they are men of matter and importance.

Reports claim Mansoor Ijaz is a conman, and Eric Boullier frowning due to the time it is taking Quantum to put their money where their mouth is making it very easy to doubt Mr.Ijaz.

In any case I would hope all the allegations against Mansoor Ijaz are false as I would like to see Hulkenberg in a competitive car.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

If Lotus is after talent, there are lot of good drivers. I think they are looking at a driver with more than just talent in a package as EB has already been hinting at RG being their lead driver for 2014.

I guess it will be Sirotkin & Gutierrez in Sauber, Sutil & Hulk in the FI for 2014. Rumor is that DiR has been shown the door out of FI already!

Telmex or Gilette might become the title sponsor for Mclaren, if Telmex becomes the title sponsor then Perez will not have a chance in F1 for 2014. Its about time, Perez finds a manager. Its difficult to survive otherwise even if you are very talented in F1.

I hope Sauber considers DiResta over Gutierrez.

Even after all the recent performances from Hulk, DiResta is still ahead of Hulk in the drivers standings due to the strong performances in the early part of the season when FI had a competitive car. That really shows what he can do when he gets a good car.

On analyzing the results for the entire year, Hulk is probably performing in the same range as DiResta. Both performed well when they got a competitive car. The performances of Hulk in the first part of the season and that of DiResta in the recent races seems comparable, at least from a race results perspective - the times when both had below average cars.

Hulkenberg got some additional respect and limelight by holding off all the world champions behind him for a good part of the race, thanks to the handling of the Sauber in corners.

Unfortunately for DiResta, even the other teams might give more weight to the recent performances. There is a chance he might switch to Indy500 where his cousin was a star performer and got injured recently, though he mentioned that is not the first option for him.

Hulk & DiResta have had a year in the same car (last year). As soon as Hulk shrugged off his rustiness due to an year off, DiResta was left well behind. DiResta would be better than Gutirez but Hulk is on another level.

Force India would have strong line-up if that happens. Much stronger than the current one. This would not be good news for other mid-table teams including the one I support.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

Hulk in a lotus would have been much more exciting that Hulk in a FI. Would have been interesting to see two young guns RoGro and the Hulk in the same car. Pity though that Lotus's money problems are forcing them, if what we hear is true, to look for a pay driver.

I only hope that sense prevails and the $ 40 odd million sponsorship that Maldonado is claimed to bring in does not buy him a seat at Lotus. The accident that he is said to have caused with Adrian Sutil in Texas is serious and after he blamed Williams for sabotaging his car, the F1 grid is better off without him.

That said, I believe Sergio Perez had a rough deal at Mclaren and should be given another chance at FI. Also hopefully the Telmex sponsorship that he brings in should help FI punch above their weight in 2014.

Yes, and now Alonso is also backing hulkenber as a strong driver on the grid which is a nice gesture and now this makes his price double for any team that would want to sign him up

Fernando Alonso reckons Nico Hulkenberg deserves a "competitive" ride as he is "one of the best drivers" in F1.'
