Re: 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix - Race thread

Not just racing over the weekend, but also important meetings are being planned in Bahrain between the teams to bring back the speed and noise. I hope they ban the restrictions in the fuel flow limit and ditch the crap Gill sensors made for F1.

What cost cutting?

Most teams have spent all their savings already!

Nice pictures. I looked around the web for illuminated track but didn't get any and hence went ahead with the one that had the full track.

The worst part about the night race this weekend is that it is directly conflicting with T20 World Cup finals. Just in case you get outvoted by others at home and have to watch cricket (I see a high chance of that in my case!), repeat telecast is at 9AM on Monday. Might have to watch the second half of the race after the cricket match and then watch the first half in the morning.

Came across race strategy cheat sheet on Mercedes AMG Petronas official Facebook page. Interesting to read.

Re: 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix - Race thread

FP1 over. As expected Mercedes at the top but I am going to make a prediction that Kimi will be on the podium.

With high fuel consumption on this track i dont see the Red Bull anywhere in the picture.

and as an Indian I do want to see Force India do well. Keeping my fingers crossed for hulkenberg.

Let the Best Man win! Hopefully it will be race which will be enjouable and interesting!

Cheers!

Re: 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix - Race thread

SS4 channel was blacked out through the entire FP2 session, though it was fine before the start of FP2. Was it the same for everyone or is it some problem with my provider? How was it in Star HD?

Based on timing charts, it looks like Kimi ended up P14 which doesn't look too good for him. He seems to be a full second off Alonso's pace!

Mercedes is in a different league again. Hamilton being 1s faster than Alonso shows that they have managed to get a perfect package.

Re: 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix - Race thread

Ferrari seem to be at par with Red Bull here, clear improvements being made to the car. Good to see.

Noticed some teams using 8th Gear down the straights, thats a 2014 season first. Racing in the evenings mean about 12C lower ambient temps, which will make it slightly easier on the machinery and drivers.

Sutil will not miss his drinks bottle as much

It seems McLaren and Ferrari have changed the gear ratios this weekend.

Star Sports2 HD was working perfectly.

Mercs again looking mighty here in Bahrain. Ferrari seems to be on par with the Red Bulls but we'll get a clearer picture in FP3. Williams doing very little running as they had already accumulated the data required in the preseason tests.

Looking forward to the first dry qualifying of this year, so we get a clear indication of the pace and the pecking order of the teams.
