Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

The Red Bull looks quite good and the camo livery is quite interesting.

Interesting to note that the front wing is installed underneath the nose on the Ferrari, Mclaren, Toro Rosso but the wing is installed ahead of the front nose on the Red Bull, Williams and the Mercedes. Can anyone explain the differences?

Ron Dennis says the 2015 McLaren F1 car livery will change. Thank god! I found the bland Red stripe one awful looking.
They are actually taking a vote. Re-tweet for Orange and Favourite the tweet for Red and White.

I've FT'd : ).

Stories floating around that Force India are $50m in debt and might not make the season opener in Melbourne!

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

Seems as though Ferrari have sorted out their single lap pace to an extent. I know its quite early to say but it seems from testing commentary that the Ferrari is heating up its tyres nicely. Hopefully not too nicely.

Times at lunch today:
1 Sebastian Vettel Ferrari 1m20.984s - 31
2 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 1m22.490s 1.506s 73
3 Max Verstappen Toro Rosso/Renault 1m24.167s 3.183s 43
4 Luiz Felipe Nasr Sauber/Ferrari 1m24.338s 3.354s 49
5 Valtteri Bottas Williams/Mercedes 1m24.923s 3.939s 24
6 Pastor Maldonado Lotus/Mercedes 1m27.363s 6.379s 13
7 Jenson Button McLaren/Honda 1m54.655s 33.671s 5
8 Daniil Kvyat Red Bull/Renault - - 7

Source:Autosport

Red Bull lost their one and only front wing and seem to be running Danii without a front wing for the remainder of the day. What a bummer!!

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

I am not sure about Ferrari' pace since its hard to make anything out from Jerez. But Mercedes is surely looking good, very good.

They did an almighty 157 laps with Nico on Sunday, that's like 700KM on the very first day of testing! Even yesterday, Lewis managed 91 laps, more than anyone else. And they had to cut it short due to a water leak.

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

I wouldnt take Ferrari's pace too seriously. Must've been medium-low fuel runs. I think Kimi will be given the task of doing race simulations today and tomorrow. In any case though, Vettel seems to be happier with the Ferrari compared to the Red Bull last year. Thats a positive!

Hope the Mclaren-Honda is up to speed today?!

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

Vettel's image looks like it is photoshopped with Ferrari overalls! At the same time from distance he resembles Michael a little.

From a performance point of view Ferrari have disappointed continuously in the last few years. Very miserable indeed. Still am not betting on them yet. I guess the fight will still be between Mercedes, McLaren and Redbull. Lotus or Williams could throw a surprise.

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

I only expect Mclaren to shine towards the end of the year. Like with many last year, they are having some serious reliability issues and only today have they managed to accumulate some mileage until a cooling issue halted their progress in the evening.

Times at 3pm local time:
1. Felipe Nasr – Sauber – 1:21.545 – 75 laps
1. Kimi Raikkonen – Ferrari – 1:22.351 – 54 laps
3. Nico Rosberg - Mercedes - 1:22.810 - 109 laps
4. Felipe Massa – Williams – 1:23.665 – 47 laps
5. Daniel Ricciardo – Red Bull – 1:23.920 – 12 laps
6. Pastor Maldonado - Lotus - 1:24.215 - 45 laps
7. Carlos Sainz - Toro Rosso - 1:25.101 - 89 laps
8. Fernando Alonso – McLaren – 1:35.553 – 32 laps

Most of them have settled into long runs so unlikely the order would change.

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

Ferrari seem to have the speed. But more than the speed it's the drivability of the car that matters at this point. Both Kimi and Seb seem to be happy with what they have got at the moment. From Kimi's point of view, last year's Ferrari was un-drivable, so definitely it's a positive for Ferrari.

McLaren seem to be in trouble at the moment.

Wait for next year. Rumour has it that Helmut Marko is keen on having Raikkonen Junior in one of the seats for next year.

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

Its encouraging to see the Ferrari's have the speed but I'm not sure this will translate to pole positions and race wins. It was written somewhere that the Mercedes engine isnt running on full power yet.

Re: The 2015 F1 Season, Calendar & Rule Changes

Though starting niggles are unavoidable, Mclaren-Honda must be getting twitchy about their overall lack of mileage. Imperative to do well at the next test in Barcelona. Would also be interesting to see how many development tokens they end up with eventually. Depends on Merc really, whether they chose to develop pre-season or in-season. Both Ferrari are Renault have apparently used up quite a few of theirs.

Ferrari's times may not indicate much, but almost everyone involved seems to believe they've solved some of their driveability issues that plagued them last season. A good base to build on.

I'm hoping Sauber aren't just glory-running and actually have a decent performing package. Last season was a nightmare, and they probably can't afford two-in-a-row.
