There's an Omnicorse story about the turbo, and they say it's a regular design mounted in the V, but that it's too small.
Apparently Honda has had a technical summit to decide what to do.
I read this article as well and it goes on to say that if Honda had got it right, they could have very well had a package capable of wins. Ferrari took this root after losing 4 straight years to the Red Bull assuming that Aero was everything for F1. Trying to emulate Adrian Newey was a disaster for the Scuderia.

Doesnt Mercedes also employ similar tech to their engine? I.e. to have the turbo mounted between the V?

Would be good if we had a comparison of all 4 engines.

Sounds similar to McLaren's "zero size" idea.

The Merc. compressor is outside of the V. They have extended the shaft so much that the compressor sits in a cooler place.
Apparently Ferrari last year and Honda this year are both struggling with the compressor inside the V.
Let's see if Honda comes up with some ingenious way to reduce the charge air temp. or to shield the heat from the engine. Whatever the outcome, the Honda engine is something that a lot of tech. minded people are looking up.
