Re: Formula 1 : 2016 Monaco Grand Prix

Did someone forget to tell Verstappen that overtaking isn't possible in Monaco . A drive of brilliance, albeit with a sad ending.

Good call by Hamilton to stay out on completely worn tyres. He could do it only in Monaco where the Red Bull wouldn't be able to pass him. Bad pitstop by Red Bull too - luck definitely favoured Lewis yesterday.

Re: Formula 1 : 2016 Monaco Grand Prix

Bit surprised that Hamilton wasn't reprimanded for straight lining the chicane. Maybe he didn't gain time, but the Red Bull's pressure behind him made him do it. No issue with that?

The only issue reported to stewards was when Lewis moved across Daniel's front while he was still struggling with the US tyres. The chicane incident happened while they started picking up the pace and hence it might not have been conclusive that he gained an advantage.

Yes buddy, I know the rule. In fact, you need not replace the gearbox to earn the penalty, you just need to break the FIA seal on the gearbox. Remember the 2012 US grand prix, Massa's FIA seal on the gearbox was broken in order to gain advantage for Alonso, to start from the clean side of the grid.

Did I miss anything? What event are you referring to?

Re: Formula 1 : 2016 Monaco Grand Prix

Awesome race after (I cant remember how long). Nice work by Force India. Podium for the mexican is good. I hope they can keep it up. Congrats and good luck Force India!
Nico ordered to let Hami pass. OKAY. Other way roound? Wont happen! Hamilton would have disobeyed and probably end up losing both Merc's chances of winning.
Poor Ricciardo. His face showed how disappointed he was with the team. However, nice to see the dance like performance of the engineers who were bringing the tires out. Almost like a ballet!
The rain was like a blessing. Interesting how Hamilton was able to hang on to those tires - before he pitted and upto the end of the race.

As far as I remember, Hamilton was asked once to let Nico through.
He was asked to slow down and let him through. He was of the opinion that he should catch up to him first. COmpared to Nico yesterday, who seemed to be driving a sauber. Nico did say that he had gotten uncomfortable on the track, and once that happens, its gone. But it was slow by any measure. He would eventually have been overtaken, or there might have been another incident.
The pace from lewis post the release was something nico didnt match throughout the race.

PS: hungary 2014
Nico: “Why isn’t he letting me through?”
Pits:“The message has been given, Nico.”

Hamilton:“I’m not slowing down for Nico. If he can get close, then he can overtake me.”

No action was taken because he did not gain any advantage and he did not make that mistake again.

If you look at it head on, Lewis basically sold a dummy to Ricciardo, which he bought. Supreme piece of defensive driving by Lewis.

Lewis left more than a car width between the armco and himself but made it look as if there wasn't.

That was so cringe-worthy! You have your entire team of mechanics waiting for you and you go handover the champagne to Mr. Biebs ?!

Didnt he dive into his mechanics twice to celebrate?
right after getting out of the car and again after the champagne..

Lol, was it this one, Mayankk was referring to, before.

Anyway, to each his own, right. All drivers got good rapport with their mechanics, behind the scenes, I'm sure, he would have done more celebration with them.

I think we should stop expecting them to behave the way want.

Yes he did! I am taking about when he was handed the champagne, instead of spraying it or handing it over to his mechanics, he hands it to Biebs for a swig!!

Ha Ha!!
Thats the one I was referring to. What I meant was he could taken the Beeb down, hard, but instead he shared his celebratory beverage with him. A blemish on an otherwise stellar performance.

Wow, its hard to satisfy everybody isn't it? like team orders the FIA need to hand over scripts to guys on podium on how to celebrate. The script should be a summary of suggestions on how to celebrate, if on podium from people who do not like or outright hate the particular individual.

Re: Formula 1 : 2016 Monaco Grand Prix

Looking forward to what Pirelli and FIA have to say after monitoring live tyre pressures at Monaco.

Name: tyres.png
Views: 719
Size: 680.8 KB

Atleast two teams were suspected to have managed to reduce the pressure of the front tires while driving by 1.5 PSI approx. Instead of a rise of 1.5 PSI during race, some have managed to limit it to 0.2 PSI apparently.
As usual, a lot of finger pointing and investigations are going on.
Mercedes and Force India have denied that they are using any specially constructed rims etc.
One obvious way is for clever heating and then rapidly cooling of the wheels to adjust the air temperature - and therefore pressure - inside the tyre.
The appearance of the heating mats on the tracks, or special blankets warm up the hub on the start-finish straight is fueling this speculation.

Formula 1 : 2016 Monaco Grand Prix-wheel_hub_blanket640x360.jpg

More ingenious solutions – such as a double chambered wheel rim that features a small hole between them to allow air to bleed slowly and drop the pressure – have also been hinted at.
Also theories are on about drilling miniature holes in the tyre causing a drop in pressure to a specified value which engineers have developed in NASCAR apparently.
Another conspiracy theory is the use of intelligent valves. This suggestion coincides with the fact that Pirelli engineers have noticed recently that many sets of tires, returned after the competition was devoid of protective caps.
The letter that McLaren wrote to FIA seeking clarification on tyre rims possibilities must be seen in this context.

Sorry for being
Not interested in how LH is celebrating with Biebs.
