Sherco TVS has signed Bangalore-based rider, Aravind KP, for the 2017 Dakar Rally. This makes Aravind the second Indian rider to take part in the gruelling rally, after CS Santosh made his debut in the 2015 season.

Aravind KP became famous in the country's rallying scene after he won the 2015 Raid de Himalaya, which is India's toughest cross country rally. He has a total of 17 national titles to his name and has been associated with TVS Racing for more than a decade.

TVS Racing is the technical and financial partner of France-based Sherco racing. Named Sherco TVS, this racing team made its Dakar debut in 2015, and the 2017 season would mark their third presence in the famed rally-cross race.

Sherco TVS will bring-in three entries in the 2017 Dakar Rally. While Aravind KP's name already fills one spot, the other two riders will be named at a later date.

TVS Racing and Hero MotoCorp would be the two teams that would be representing India at the 2017 Dakar Rally. Hero MotoCorp have signed CS Santosh as their rider for the race.

The 2017 Dakar Rally will be the 39th edition of the iconic race, and will be organized from January 2 to January 16, 2017. The rally track will span over a distance of 9,000 km, and will cross through Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina.
