Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

Kubica and Ferrari had penned a contract for the 2012 season - which we know was never executed.

That's just tough luck for Robert Kubica. Was looking really strong before his horrific accident in 2011 which eventually took away his Ferrari contract too.

Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

Does hotstar provide live, and consistent, streams of the races?
The only things I watch on Tatasky are motogp and f1, and it's quite wasteful, subscribing to the mega HD package just for that.

Yes HotStar does live and consistent streaming of F1 race day, not sure if they have live telecast of qualifying.

Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

Interesting article on Vettel. It looks like he is quite cost efficient.

Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

The name change of Force India may happen this season itself. Already, the names of Force India and Kingfisher are being stripped of in the paddock.

Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

It's Racing Point Force India from now on. Its a new entity, they are a new team.
They had hoped to keep the rights and prize money accrued by Force India but this will not be the case. For that to happen, all the teams had to agree, and that didn't happen.

I can't understand, why they still kept Force India, if they are not getting the benefits? They don't even get to keep the points.

They had to carry the name that's on the chassis.

Im sure they will change the team name as soon as they can.
There was very little hope of retaining their 2017 FOM earnings, which would be around $100 million, since it was going to come directly out of the remaining teams share.
Though, I am sure they will finish ahead of Williams.

Williams would never agree, knowing Papa Stroll was pulling out his millions at the end of the year, in addition to Martini leaving.

McLaren too, inspite of saving upwards of $25 million of Fernando's salary, after taking into account Sainz.

The Grill the Grid I enjoyed the most. Particularly, Kimi's response to "Have you ever faked an illness to get our of a PR engagement?". The most emotion I have seen from the Iceman. Sheer happiness!

Some more heartbreak for the Tifosi.

But this time Ferrari will win at least 3 or more races. Tow effect at this year's faster circuits are mind boggling. Finger tightly crossed.

Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

I think we can hand over the current season to Hamilton & Mercedes. I hope that Vettel comes out of his slumber. It is sad that Ferrari have the most powerful engine, but are unable to cash it.

Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

The WDC is as good as gone from Vettel. The issue here is that he reportedly does not trust the strategy at Ferrari. He finds the need to get involved with everything that happens behind the scene. During his Red Bull days, all he had to do was drive the car. Now, it looks like he even gets involved with the work that is done to the car, which is supposedly not going down well with the mechanics at Ferrari.

The latest example is during the race in Singapore when he ended up behind Max. On radio, he said, "We got this wrong again". He sounds like someone who is overwhelmed with everything that is happening around him and has given up.

Lewis on the other hand trusts the strategy Mercedes employs and the mechanics. He is always praising the work done by the team over radio. This definitely boosts the team's morale.

Re: Formula 1 - The 2018 Season

With F1 you can't count anything out. Freak incidents happen and Hamilton can easily get caught in a first corner collision and have a DNF - that's a 25 point deduction right there. Of course a lot of things have to happen for that and given Hamilton's clinical performance so far and ability or rather presence of mind to stay out of trouble (unlike Vettel), would make this even harder to actually happen.
