The 2019 MotoE Championship

FIM has announced all electric bike championship, similar to Formula E. The bikes will be provided by Italian firm Energica. Energica Ego, on which the bikes are based, is a 145 bhp bike with top speed of 155 m.p.h . Energica claims Ego to be faster than 600 cc supersport.
14 of the 18 bikes will be run by the customer teams of MotoGp.

Will be a fine 'balancing' act, pun intended. The battery weight might be more difficult to manage than in a car.

I'm going to start watching MotoGP this year, but at least in the foreseeable future, I won't be watching any EVs racing, motorcycles or otherwise. Formula-E is just so boring.

As I posted in another thread:

People still love horse racing & derbys, even if horses aren't our primary mode of transportation anymore!

Here's an interesting take on this whole series by none other than Mat Oxley!

Re: The 2019 MotoE Championship

A major fire has destroyed the entire roster of electric bikes ahead of the MotoE World Cup -- the electric spin off of MotoGP.

The blaze ripped through the newly-built paddock after the first day of preseason testing in Jerez, Spain, with all the 18 bikes caught up in the damage.

MotoE executive director Nicolas Goubert confirmed a prototype charging station caused the inferno that "destroyed the majority of material."

Fortunately no one was injured.

The first two races have been cancelled and first race will probably take place sometime in June .

Re: The 2019 MotoE Championship

First ever MotoE race took place at Sachenring Circuit in Germany. The already short race was cut short by red flag, and the race ended in 5 laps.
Finnish rider Niki Tuuli won the first ever MotoE (electric-bike) race, former MotoGP rider Bradley Smith came second and Mike De Meglio was the third Rider on podium.
