Additional Information

F1 is back this weekend. Based on the winter testing, it seems the top three teams are quite close to each other. And teams in the middle of the pack are also looking very close. Toro Rosso-Honda has had a reliable winter testing, hope it continues for the season. Mclaren has not had a reliable winter testing hoping their fortunes turn around in time. Lets see what's Australia has in store for us. Let the games begin.

For the first time since DRS has been implemented, there will be three DRS zones on the circuit. The third one being added between turn 12 and 13.

For further information - https://www.formula1.com/en/champion...Australia.html

Race and all other sessions will be telecast on Star Sport Select 2 HD/Star Sport Select 2

Re: FORMULA 1 2018 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX, Melbourne

F1 is back baby! Yay. Hoping against the odds that it won't be borefest as last year.

Looks like there is 3rd DRS zone on the straight between turn 12 and 13.

Rain is expected on Saturday, and scattering showers on Sunday. Maybe this will add to excitement.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Australian Grand Prix

FP2 done and indicates interesting weekend ahead.

Only 0.1 second between Hamilton and Max. Whats more only 0.5 second separate the top three teams.

HAAS with the Ferrari power is oh so close to the top runners.

Halos look ordinary across many of the cars.

Ferrari, Williams and Force India seem to have rudimentary aero aids in the Halo. Not sure how many more have from the Youtube videos on FP1 and FP2.

Mclaren seems to have a more interesting Halo.

Intricate tiny aero additions on the Halo would add to more dangerous flying shrapnel in case of accidents. Probably as the season progresses we could see more interesting variations or rules from the F1 management to ban these.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Australian Grand Prix

0.664 seconds to P2 is insane.

Contrary to what Lewis says, Mercedes surely got something going on for Q3. But I want to take nothing away from Lewis here. It was a brilliant combination of both the man and machine in their pomp.

Relive that mighty lap here:

Miss the nose in that traditional view. I wish the camera was on the halo instead.

For the sake of this season, lets hope both Ferrari and Red Bull are closer to the champions on race trim.

Edit:

Here is F1 on Charles Leclerc' journey so far and why he is one to watch. I think the title should have been Tragedy And Triumph though. Hope Sauber can bring it all together later this season, the car is a bit too complex and needs work.

Any Kimi fans around? Am very much looking forward for the Finn to strike the podium and shame the duo rivals - #seb #Ham

Heartbreak for Haas ! They were going so well P4 P5 . Double DNF because of pit crew error.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Australian Grand Prix

Vettel comes P1 followed by Hamilton and Kimi. LH couldn't drop the hammer on him today. Pretty chase it was between them. Pressure well managed by Seb. I guess Hamilton had to back off to save the engine? Good to see Kimi on the podium. Looks like this season will be a fight between Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes
