The Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team is simply now Alfa Romeo Racing .
The iconic name which won the first two championship returns.

Bit sad to see the Sauber name go from the list. They have been a plucky outfit and as many websites pointed out a genuine mid-field contender. With BMW they did challenge the order a decade back. Peter Sauber was a genuine racer at heart. Am not sure how much Monisha Kalterborne contributed but she was quietly asked to leave once longbow took reigns of the outfit.
On the positives, it is now a proper Ferrari B team and there will be decent technology transfers. Ferrari might also try newer parts in the Sauber earlier before plonking out the same in the main team. Good fun times !

Ferrari shakes up race crews - Clear to oversee Leclerc

Mattia Binotto's first major move since taking the helm of Ferrari earlier this year has been to shake up the respective race crews associated with the Scuderia's drivers.

Reports from Italy claim that Sebastian Vettel's entire team has been moved to the other side of the garage to support new recruit Charles Leclerc.
Not sure if it is confirmed or still a rumour but if true, is this a Sign to Vettel that Ferrari is placing its long term bets behind Leclerc? If so, I think this would be a premature move from Ferrari. They should atleast wait for 1 season to see how Leclerc fairs or maybe gains some experience under his belt as it would be his first year in Ferarri. Seb would sure need to dig deep within himself to raise his game and pull out of this.

Too early to come to any conclusions. In fact in another interview Binotto has stated that they will look up to Vettel for guiding the team to WDC. And I think he is right. Leclerc has the time and he is at the team for a minimum of 2-3 years and with all this major changes in the team structure, Ferrari can not afford to back Leclerc so early. However if Leclerc qualifies ahead of Seb and stays ahead in the race then the team would surely back him. But this year it looks likely that Ferrari are going to go all out and back Seb rather than in 2018 when Maurizio let it a little too late.

The key is for both drivers to finish in the top 4 in every race and that way they would take points off the Merc drivers and potentially one of them could be in title contention by mid season and that is when they need to take a decision basis points.

Clear statement from Ferrari of backing Vettel for the WDC, restricting Leclerc.
I feel they know it will be close as Seb does not have the outright pace to beat his teammate.

First day of testing saw Ferrari leading the charts on lap times as well as mileage. Impressive stuff from McLaren as well, with Carlos lapping the circuit 119 times.

Back to Sauber (Alfa Romeo) after 18 years, and he looks the same!
