Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Austrian Grand Prix

Yesterdays results were good for the championship. Had it stayed the way it is, LH44 would have been stomping his authority in the drivers championship.

Its been almost two seasons since Hamilton failed to finish a race. Feel bad for Bottas though, he had the car under him to fight and maybe even clock a win.

I am a bit critical of Kimi's defence. He could have done a bit more to keep Max behind. Also good to see Ferrari not make the baited call from the pitwall and ask Kimi to move aside for Vettel. Haters can stop hating now maybe?!

Silverstone next and I am pretty sure Hamilton will be unstoppable at his home race. Vettel gaining a one point lead will help take the fight longer into the season as in my opinion Ferrari will have issues at Silverstone and probably be 3rd best behind Mercedez and Red Bull.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Austrian Grand Prix

What a race!!!! So much happening all the time. Verstappen's win was a surprise but superbly driven. The pass he made on Raikkonen defined the turning point for his race. Other than that Mercs strategy mistake clubbed with Hamilton and Bottas's retirement made it easy for him.

Good drive from a change by Raikkonen but he should have been able to block Verstappen's move. That was not an overtaking zone, he was just caught sleeping. Vettel did a good drive and good damage limitation on the back of double Mercedes retirement.

Tough luck for Bottas. Luck is not with him this year. Double retirement for Merc since 2016 that was a big news of the race. And they were not able to manage tires in the higher temperatures. Both of these things resulted in Ferrari taking a lead in both drivers and constructors championship.

Lets see what last round of the triple header has in store. Its a track which suits Mercs way more than Ferrari

The Austrian GP was more in the news for the double Merc retirement. Seems that Verstappen has the measure of the competition. The race was quite eventful, and exciting.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Austrian Grand Prix

Fascinating race and shows how fickle this season is and things can turn on their head pretty quickly.

Only on Saturday, trying to up the mental games,Toto advised Seb on how the mistakes could add up in the title race. The very next day Toto's team screws up big time.

That move by Seb on Lewis was stellar.Considering Lewis was on fresher set of tyres, that move becomes even more special.

Redbull racing Facebook page is a must follow. The way they click pictures and caption it, is one of the most hilarious thing you will find on the web.

Re: Formula 1: The 2018 Austrian Grand Prix

Am surprised how Hamilton's softs gave away so early. So even if Mercedes made the correct strategic call, he'd have dropped from the lead anyway to make the switch to super softs.

Anyway, the championship is interestingly poised now. I guess this is the first time in years when Ferrari has gone into the lead in the constructors' so late in the championship. Hope Ferrari don't screw this interesting season with reliability issues of their own.

What a superb drive from Max! excellent tire management, did what is team mate could not.
Shame about the Mercs, but ultimately there was nothing lost for the erroneous strategy call.
A little surprised Kimi didnt gun for Max earlier, Ferrari are easier on tires than most.

Nice drive by Grosjean.. finally getting through one race incident free.
And Fernando, another solid drive.
