What a great finish to the British GP! This time it was Alex Rins who shadowed MM till the end and finished as the winner by a whisker.

Vinales would have wished to have another lap and may be he wouldn't have finished third.

Dovi and Fabio has a spectacular crash in the first lap giving MM a firm hand on the 2019 title.

Re: The 2019 MotoGP championship thread

Superb tactics by Rins, which gave him the win. Even though he had pace to lead allowed Marq to be at front and thereby conserve tyres at the end.

Marq almost had it at the end. One more lap and maybe Maverick would have been in the fight.

Re: The 2019 MotoGP championship thread

What a cracker of a race at Silverstone yesterday. Alex Rins easily had the pace he needed, and he lurked all over Marquez at every turn. But whenever he started leading the race Marquez became all aggressive and snatched the lead back, so Rins made up a plan to stick with Marquez all along. Despite few mistakes here and there Rins easily caught up with Marquez as the Suzuki was flowing effortlessly in all the corners, while Marquez had to hang off that Honda to make it turn.

The Yamahas were strong all through the practice sessions, but on Sunday it was a mediocre affair, as Quartararo crashed in the second corner and send Dovi flying ending both their races within 20 seconds from the start!

Vinales was getting stronger and stronger and came really close to the battle between Marquez and Rins, but the chequered flag was already out. Rossi complained of losing too much grip - quite intriguing, as Vinales seemed really strong on the same bike and with the same tyre choice.

Marquez was dejected despite a 2nd place, and kept shaking his head in regret after crossing the finish line 0.013 seconds behind Rins. His dejection was very apparent when he said he had a bad race, and acted cool saying he is more bothered about the Championship, that is what counts and all that. He did not seem happy while congratulating Rins either, maybe the tussle between the two two races ago during qualifying has strained their relationship? He did not talk much about his bike or how he gave it all, nothing he just spoke about the Championship just to inflate his ego and walked away.

But Marc, we all know you feel terrible for losing two last lap battles in a row, admit it and move on

I am not a Rins supporter, but that last lap move was a heroic move. After Marc almost pushed him off the track at the long straight in the penultimate lap, this would have been sweet, sweet revenge. I love it when someone breaks the monotony

Re: The 2019 MotoGP championship thread

After double loss of races on the last corner, Marquez set up a beautiful duel with rookie Quartararo, only to pounce at the last lap. The celebration clearly showed, how much this win ment to him, despite having a comfortable lead in championship. The number 93 leads the championship with 93 points, with 6 races to go.

Re: The 2019 MotoGP championship thread

2019 was a foregone conclusion a few races ago itself. Ducatis somehow not able to rake up race wins with both riders unlike last year to take away points from Marquez. Losing Lorenzo to Honda was bad.

Yamahas are slowly getting back, but they sitting ducks against the Hondas and Ducatis on the long straights. Even overtaking Suzukis, KTM and Aprilias were a challenge for Yamaha this season.

El Diablo is to watchout for 2020 as he would be getting the latest spec M1.

Re: The 2019 MotoGP championship thread

I don't know what's the issue with Yamaha, but for last couple of season, the older bike is performing better than current spec. Zarco was quick last year on 2017 spec. Fabio is quicker than factory riders riding 2018 spec.
Vinales should sort out the starts, he's particularly quick in latter part of the races.

It is said that Vinales suffers a lot when the fuel tank is full at the start of the race. He somehow seems to struggle through the corners with a full fuel tank it seems, and that is why he drops at the start and slowly regains towards the end, but it usually gets too late by the time he gets to the pace.

Quartararo is terrific, not just as a rookie, but also as a really good rider who is able to challenge Marquez (which unfortunately nobody else has managed this season)

Re: The 2019 MotoGP championship thread

Interesting piece of information is that Quartararo had a proper bike only for his last two outings - where he was really challenging Marquez!

For the entire 2019 season, Quartararo was allowed only 5 engines, as opposed to 7 engines allowed for other factory riders by the regulation. So Quartararo's engine rev limiter was set at 500 rpm lower than the other factory Yamaha M1 bikes - to conserve the engine and prolong its life. But as the season is almost over, and since he still has an engine to spare, Yamaha has removed the limitation, and the rookie is already flying!

Would be interesting to see how he performs in the upcoming races

Marquez grabs the elusive Japanese GP pole. By doing so, he gets another BMW M3 and Tissot watch.
