How to spend weekends without races in 2020!

Now that we won't be getting any motorsports action during the weekends (save for WRC, which is not available on our channels anyway!), I thought we can compile some interesting stories to read/watch to pass the upcoming race weekends. Following are my top picks in grid order

P1-Truth in 24: Every Second Counts (Epic battle between Audi and Peugeot at the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours)

P2-The Porsche 935, 1979 Le Mans 24 hours and the crazy Whittington Brothers
The incredible story: https://jalopnik.com/the-drug-runnin...-fu-1821122960

P3-Our Return: A documentary of our road to Le Mans 2015
[

P5-'Le Mans' starring Steve McQueen: Based on Porsche's triumph with the flat-12 engine 917 at the 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours (for serious fans only, its like watching Ford Vs Ferrari only without the typical hollywood story!)

P6-Isle of Man TT: Closer to the Edge

P7-Official F1 Season Reviews (2003, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2018)

Request you to post more here to help out fellow motorsport fanatic BHPians here..

Re: How to spend weekends without races in 2020!

As a mighty Schumacher fan, I am really looking forward to watching the season highlights from the early 2000s. Thanks for sharing!

Netflix' Drive to Survive has some nice episodes in Season 2. Very cool "behind the scenes" stuff. I saw the one on Mercedes last evening.

Re: How to spend weekends without races in 2020!

If you are a fan of motorsports but don't follow MotoGP, trust me when I say - you are missing out big time.

MotoGP has been kind enough to allow us to watch the Top 10 Races MotoGP races for free on their website - it doesn't even need a sign-up.

Link: https://www.motogp.com/en/news/2020/...-motogp/328170

I feel some better races are missing. Especially the last lap battles MM93 has been having against Dovi, Rins and Fabio in the last 2-3 seasons, but one race/weekend from the above list should keep you covered for 2.5 months! :P

MSC's best races so far:
1. 1996 Spanish GP: Hangs it out on a wet track on dry tyres to take the win

2. 2005 San Marino GP: Keeps a very quick Alonso-Renault package behind on a very fast Imola

3. 2006 Chinese GP: Masters changing wet conditions to overcome a 25 sec deficit to Alonso's Renault on superior Michelin tyres (through Renault botched up his strategy by not changing rear tyres)

4. 1994 Spanish GP: Gets stuck in 5th gear (5th!!) yet still holds on to 2nd!

5. 2004 French GP: Did 24 laps on qualifying pace along with an inspired 4 stop strategy thanks to the genius Ross Brawn!

Trust me, I did used to enjoy MotoGP, but in the last decade when Casey Stoner, Carlos Checa, Chris Vermuelen and The Doctor used to battle it out. Haven't really been a part of the Lorenzo era. Though I have enjoyed exploring the Isle of Man TT races and its history. Those guys make all other racers look tame!

Re: How to spend weekends without races in 2020!

If you have a PS4 -

Step 1 - Buy GT Sport
Step 2 - Get Online
Step 3 - Participate in Daily races, lobby races, Nations cup, etc

This is immense fun to substitute watching races.

Alternatively, Lando Norris's Twitch is fun to watch as well.

Re: How to spend weekends without races in 2020!

In 2019, the world of motorsports saw something it had rarely seen before; the two toughest endurance events in motor racing took place back-to-back: the 24h of Le Mans and the 24h of the Nürburgring.

ENDURANCE is the story of the Porsche GT Team that took on this double challenge.

A good watch on an lazy Sunday Afternoon amid the lockdown.

Thanks again for sharing! Watched the 3-hour long 2006 season highlights and enjoyed every minute of it. What an incredible season. Two greats fighting for the championship, with some races throwing surprises (e.g. McLaren or Button's pace). And the engine sound - oh my god. Makes today's F1 cars sound like modified Civics!!

Glad you enjoyed it mate, I did too (I remember being in my final semester of engineering, good ol' days..). The 'Rainmeister' in his element on inferior Bridgestones!

Peter Windsor of F1 Racing magazine (also a commentator of Speed TV) compiled fan favourite races in the F1 youtube channel:

The 2006 Chinese GP was one the best races of the season, closely followed by the Hungarian GP where Button and Honda produced a masterclass in changing conditions to take the win.

Another Button masterclass came at the 2011 Canadian GP which was a 4+hr race due to heavy downpours).

Yes I started watched this one on Sat night, yet to complete. Amazing documentary and behind the scenes footage!

Also watch the story of the return of Porsche LMP1 team at the 2014 WEC season and their struggles till they ultimately won the race as well as the season in 2015!

Watched the whole season. Its great to have insights of what goes on behind the scenes and difficulties faced even by the best of drivers. Makes them more relatable. Though I felt they could have included more about Lando Norris. Super chill guy and a treat to watch.

Here is an INDIAN version "THE DRIVING FORCE" that would be a good watch IMO. Its based on Volkswagen Ameo Cup - 2019 but also has some interesting bits regarding Indian motorsports in general.

6 episode season hosted on MXPLAYER.

The day I thought modern formula 1 (post Michael Schumacher) lost its plot

But still I love Formula 1 and love Leclerc
