Re: Formula 1: The 2020 Steiermark Grand Prix (July 10 - 12)

Has Hostar (VIP) stopped displaying F1 races on desktop mode? I am able to login into Hostar on laptop, but heading to the Motorsport/F1 page gives me a 404 error. I'm able to login and access the F1 videos on mobile.

Leclerc crashes into Vettel on the first lap. Vettel has to retire with rear wing damage. Leclerc had to pit for front wheel replacement. Crazy stupid stuff from him.

Edit- Leclerc retires too. They can't wait to get out of that car

Norris, what a guy

Mercedes looking ominous, good race less drama, more driving. Ferrari need to do something quickly both with the car and the drivers..

Nice race the midfield was full of excitement. Max was superb and got all he could out of that car, the difference is stark compared to his teammate. Lewis was hungry and did what he does. Norris has everything in him to be right up there.

God give a break to Ferrari!

Good race but qualifying was better.

Re: Formula 1: The 2020 Steiermark Grand Prix (July 10 - 12)

The thrill in F1 now lies in 3-10 positions. Reminds me of my school times like same girl and guy who fight among themselves for 1st and 2nd rank way ahead at 98-100 marks. We used to have fun at 80-95% marks.

Excellent drive by Perez and Norris. They made the race more interesting than the front runners. Some very nice overtakes by these guys.

Apart from the midfield fight, the only interesting point was the 2 lap fight between Verstappen and Bottas.

Looks like Mercedes has already blocked the drivers and constructors championship.

And 4 cars (P5-P8) finishing in about a second was awesome.

Re: Formula 1: The 2020 Steiermark Grand Prix (July 10 - 12)

After last week's eventful race, this week's race felt boring.
The few laps towards the end made up for what would have been a processional race.
The order remained the same except for some good midfield battles.

Re: Formula 1: The 2020 Steiermark Grand Prix (July 10 - 12)

What seemed a processional race turned interesting in the closing stages!

Ferrari drivers committed the cardinal sin in motorsport yet again, this time LEC taking the full responsibility (this team can't get a break).

McLaren were aware of NOR's potential on those medium tyres and promptly put him ahead of SAI who was struggling. As opposed to Renault who let RIC burn his tyres and cook his engine behind the stubborn OCO (both of whom were on different strategies ) which was ridiculous (is it a French thing?).

Mercedes and HAM looked untouchable throughout the weekend. Even BOT crept up to P2 after a good drive. This is what happens when too much data is available to a strong team, they dominate it. Perhaps all FP sessions should have been cancelled to get an interesting race

But driver of the day was the charging PER!

Sensational drive to P5 and almost held on till the very end even with a broken front wing! Hope he did not get penalized for it post race. That radio call regarding the pass was hilarious! Martin Brundle was right, he joined McLaren way too early in his career.

Re: Formula 1: The 2020 Steiermark Grand Prix (July 10 - 12)

This race was shambles. As we know Ferrari uses P3 to pull out the stops. No P3 here! As for qualifying all on Full Wets. Also, when on Intermediate or full wet the minute by minute rain can affect your time. So the qualifying was also shambles.

On day 3 the weather was thankfully clear. LeClerc picked up a three place penalty. Then Vettel and he crashed/clashed - unacceptable. Obviously there were no team orders! The race was very uneventful with Merc at 1 & 2, RedBull Honda at 3 & 4. RaiKkonen was the highest placed Ferrari engine. We had some Renault engines in between.

Yes, Hamilton rode well and deserved his first place.

What is clear is that whatever they did Ferrari were uncompetitive. They are not used to running with the Janta. Honda are up there! The Red Bull + Honda combo (esp with Verstappen) is coming up fast.

Re: Formula 1: The 2020 Steiermark Grand Prix (July 10 - 12)

What a finish thanks to Albon, Perez and Norris. Norris has turned into the last dash hero. From 9th on the grid to 5th. Awesome drive from him. He and Russel are very impressive.

Frankly the rest of the race was pretty dry except for the occasional action in the mid field like Riccardo trying to pass Ocon and Perez trying the same on Stroll. For all the talk of making it easier for cars to pass, nothing great seems to be happening in this direction if the cars are evenly matched.

Ferrari. The less said the better. Leclerc made an absolute mess of that move. Martin Brundle was rant on about Vettel for two laps till he finally realised that he had got the cars mixed up. Knowledgeable commentator but prone to criticising drivers he doesn't think much of a bit too much and letting is favorites off the hook.

Perez is a driver who would have delivered in a much better team.

Drive on,
Shibu.
