Re: Formula 1 : 2020 British Grand Prix - Silverstone (July 31 - August 2)

The conlusion is that only Pirelli can can make the 2020 season iteresting.

They are going for even softer tyres next week

Re: Formula 1 : 2020 British Grand Prix - Silverstone (July 31 - August 2)

My take on the British GP: Mercedes is proving to be unbeatable. This in my opinion is going to be a pretty onesided season with Hamilton and Mercedes taking the respective championships. Nobody is even coming close.
Redbull’s gamble with Max’s pitstop costed him the Pole position while trying to get that extra one point. SRK’s dialogue from the movie Raees fits perfectly here “ Mohalla Bachate bachate, sheher jala diya “
Not able to understand what is going on with the Ferrari though. P3 and P10!! Vast difference between Leclerc and Vettel’s timings. How is it that the two cars have such different setups? Thoughts from the experts please.

Going a bit OT here. Looks like the Mercedes team had a way to blow off steam.

If only HR's of our organisation thought of such fun team building measures.

It is crazy how Ferrari spent hundreds of millions of dollars and came up with a car that is slower than their 2019 car. Very disheartening as a Ferrari fan.

Ferrari has two issues for there current speed:

1. Ferrari was lacking downforce in there 2019 car. They got overboard with it and have managed to get more downforce, but have now got a lot of drag for which they dont have an immediate solution available.

2. Technical Directives announced by FIA which has led to ~68hp less power from the engine on the straights which is affecting there performance badly.

No wonder they have written off 2 years straight away.

Seems like Max's tires were in equally bad shape as Bottas and Hamilton's.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says Max Verstappen’s tire had around 50 cuts in it when he pitted in the closing stages of the British Grand Prix. Horner says it was likely Verstappen would also have had a failure, and doesn’t see it as a missed victory opportunity.

Re: Formula 1 : 2020 British Grand Prix - Silverstone (July 31 - August 2)

Quite a dramatic finish! I was literally cursing Mercedes for not pitting Hamilton before last lap! Was reminded of 2005 European GP where Raikkonen's McLaren suffered suspension failure on last lap to gift the victory to Alonso. Few years back, Ferrari suffered similar fate towards closing stages of British GP with punctures on both cars.

Verstappen's late pit stop - Red Bull did the right thing. They got more than what they bargained for. Having seen other drivers suffer (Kvyat/Sainz/Bottas), it was the right move to protect his second place that he inherited from Bottas. Right now Mercedes are in a different league and it's down to circumstances that Max finished ahead of Bottas in last two races. Real concern for Red Bull should be the second Red Bull that's missing at the front.

Hamilton got really lucky here. Haven't seen replays, but i think there was enough time for Mercedes to pit Hamilton before the start of last lap and still keep the lead. That's where Mercedes almost lost it.

Quite a mind numbing race upto the last 2 laps. The amount of times Lewis keeping reiterating 'Valteri is really pushing me' deserves an award. Walk in the park for 50 laps.

Nice to see Renault and Mclaren get up there. Hope Vettel gets his act together, as Berger suggests, he should just stop this year and come back refreshed with Aston in 2021.

Hope the tire problems continue this weekend to spice things up.

@aakash1412; remember Hamilton lost a race due to shot tyres. So win some & lose some. I do feel sorry for Versrtappen.

Next week there will be a harder tyre. So things may change. Of course there are three engines, Merc, Honda and Ferrari (they are weaker now). Better than Cosworth-8 and Ferrari-12
