Re: Formula 1 | Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021 | Yas Marina Circuit | 10 - 12 December, 2021 - The Finale

If someone wants to know what is a team work, they have look up to Red Bull's Abu Dhabi Qualifying, Max getting a tow from Perez and returning it back during his in-lap.

You mean like how Lewis goes on air saying that his tyres are gone while leading a race, however the data shows a lot is left on his tyres. It's all mind games and who is better than Lewis at that

What a qualy! What a weekend! What a season!
Whoever takes the flag by the end of this day, the real winner is the spectator this time around, for such an eventful season ever so rarely occurs in this sport.

Amazing Q3 strat by RedBull, keeps me wondering why Merc didn't try a tow on the second try atleast. TBH with what I've seen these last few months, ALL of the theories and hypotheses go out the window once those red lights flash out at the race start.

I recall a conversation I was having after the race in Saudi, I felt that the championship was over for me already, being equal on points into the last race is phenomenal. Lewis and Max have wholly won everyone's heart. They're leagues ahead of the rest of the grid, yet within thousandths of a second of each other.

It's probably because he's played so many mind games that he's always suspicious of everything that happens. In any case, it only adds to the drama making the anticipation a whole lot more difficult.

The result will be one to remember and I hope the race is too.

Clear bias on part of the stewards. The way Hamilton is driving, he would probably have gained the place back anyway - but this is truly shocking.

And that nudge could well cost Verstappen, the championship!
Ofcourse, there is still more than 75% race to be covered now, so Verstappen should have to hang on / hope for his bête noire to make a mistake, which is rare!

Re: Formula 1 | Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021 | Yas Marina Circuit | 10 - 12 December, 2021 - The Finale

That's controversial, to put it mildly.

Lead driver left the door open, chasing driver took it and kept his car on the track without making contact. Lead driver tries to turn in from a wide line too late, realizes the chasing car has track position and there's nowhere to go on track, so just cuts the corner and keeps the place.

Not an infringement? Let's put it this way, if you swapped the cars around, Merc would be screaming to be handed the place back too.

Wow Checo can race!

Very true.. and according to this season's history, he would be handed over the place back as well.

That were some master moves from Perez!

Yes, and Redbull will be giving similar arguments on not giving back the position.

And yes, that was a pretty brilliant show by Checo!

What a brilliant brilliant play by Checo. This is not the first time Checo has a proper answer to Hamilton - gives very strong credence to the view that Red Bull is betting on the wrong horse.

Maybe next year we'll see Checo make a much stronger play for the championship than being asked to play the role of a 'team player'.

The position should’ve been given back to redbull. It’s not even debatable !
What the hell is Verstappen ‘lunged’ at the position ?!?
He took the in a fair way
Checo should be made the driver of the day just cause of the brilliant play. This fight between him and Hamilton will go down the history for sure

Couldn't agree more. Quite blatant, Verstappen was entitled for a lunge and made the apex. Hamilton knew he was there, chose to floor it and failed to lose the position by going off track.

I though Brazil warranted a penalty for Max, Hamilton passed anyways.
I think today Hamilton deserves a penalty, Max may not pass anyways.

The incident between Max and Hamilton, that stewards decided to not be investigated is well put by below statement.

Stewards have taken the view that Max’s move was too opportunistic & left Lewis with nowhere to go. ‘Let me pass or we have an accident’ is not something the Stewards believe is correct. Source.

Well, Merc moaned to race control about Checo who kept it as clean as it could possibly be kept, and are now asking for no SC as it 'impacts their race'.

Red Bull have a 25 lap tire delta with 17 seconds to make up. Doable?
