And one that has always been the target for Mercedes to make it a 3-way fight between itself and the top two teams, from the start of the year.

Mercedes have accordingly been making noise since last week that they have "solved" the porpoising problem and even 4 races ago, both Hamilton and Russell have been dropping (hopeful) hints that they expect the car to be worthy of a title-defender by the time they reach Silverstone.

With both British racers keen to make a strong point at their home ground, we are going to see a strong attempt of a fightback by Mercedes for sure.

My (hopeful) vote goes for Hamilton for this race. Given the recent racist comments by Piquet, I'm sure he's going to come out all guns blazing.

Hamilton could face sanctions from the FIA if he does not remove his nose ring. He claimed it’s difficult to remove, hence was given a grace period which expiries today.

If he wears it for the practice session tomorrow, he could be summoned to the stewards and possibly fined for disobeying or maybe even expelled from participating in the qualifying on Saturday.

Beautiful effort from Carlos Sainz! A well deserved pole and he finally put up with the pressure! 104th pole sitter it seems!

The Ferraris and Red Bulls continue to lock up the front 2 rows!

May the best man and team win tomorrow with proper racing and no retirements.

Zhou Guanyu saved by the halo. Upside-down while still on track, through gravel/runoff, flips a second time to go over the tire barrier and into the fence.

Extracted and safe, thankfully.

Running order reportedly reset as race was red flagged before cars got through S1 timing beacon.

Edit: Clarification on starting order. Earliest timing reference is Safety Car line #2 (pit lane exit marker). As that hadn't happened for all cars before red flag, they had to revert to last recorded official positions (original grid order minus retired cars).

Horrible crash !
Thank God Zhou is safe.

The camera men over there and the spectators were literally at high risk over there.

Liked the way George ran out to help(probably Albon), didn't seem to be very necessary though.

I can't imagine if it was Max in place of George, the british commentators would have literally killed him with negative comments.

Someone coming out alive out of that crash is nothing less than a miracle! That was a horrific crash.

And now Verstappen says his car is broken.

Ferrari couldn't react fast enough to pull Leclerc in under SC, so stuck in the lead with cold hard tires.

Sainz Vs. Hamilton for the win, with Perez (P4) in the mix?

What madness!!

One of the best races ever, wheel to wheel, feels like MotoGP.

What a restart!

Sainz refusing both on the radio and on track to play second fiddle for once, justifiably so, and gathers a deserved first win.

Leclerc doing an Alonso 2021 to keep Hamilton out of P1 range, fabulous racing on mismatched tires.

Checo, what a recovery drive and another fantastic wheel-to-wheel racer.

What a race. What a race. Nail biting laps, those last 10 laps were for sure.

Amazing racing by Hamilton, Leclarc and Perez maintaining control during those laps. Great comeback by Perez and even though I was rooting for Hamilton to win in his home race, can't ask for a better race.

And what a cry baby Verstappen is turning out to be.

And you know what was the best outcome of this race?
Mercedes are back in business. Woohoo! The next set of races are going to be fun!

What a race !
Like every guy in top 10 drove beautifully !
I can’t even single out the drivers I mean man Sainz at the last moment was beautiful with his strategy, Perez being aggressive and pulling P2 was astonishing and the drive Hamilton had to win infront of his home crowd was inspiring
And the last moment, Max vs Mick was amazing as well
Kudos to all drivers !

Dark humor alert.

Two minutes of silence for those who hated and opposed the Halo when it was made mandatory, and this include some F1 drivers as well. Without the Halo, well...we would have been posting some very dark messages here tonight.
