Amazing win by Max! Reminded me of Michael Schumacher back in 1995 at the same track starting 16th and winning the race.

Part of Alonso's radio message after the incident with Hamilton.

Truer words have never been spoken. This is something everyone knows, yet only Alonso has the guts to destroy the narrative of political correntness spewed by Toto & Co.

So much for Mercedes sponsored technical directive about raising the minimum floor height

Happy for Albon. Well deserved finish for Alonso. Some great driving by Ocon.

Perez looks like pale shadow of himself when he won Monaco and his contract was extended. I am a fan of Checo, so good to see him climb back onto 2nd spot in WDC rankings.

George is a special talent. Deserves a competitive car.

LeClerc is super special. Deserves a normal team in the paddock! Sainz showing more consistency on race day.

The only way we will ever see a proper 3 way manufacturer's battle between RBR/Ferrari/MB :

1) Ferrari completely overhauls their strategy team (including Binotto).

2) Mercedes move outside the deviant shadows of Toto and Lewis. Surely financial benefits is not the only reason why top engineers from MB have moved to RBR. Pre-occupation with constant social engineering and hyper-entitled mannerisms of Toto & Lewis have replaced the juggernaut of excellence that was Mercedes of the past.

Replace the dead weight that is No.44, with Norris or Albon.

As for Max and RBR, thank you for reviving F1 after the worst period in F1, of unchallenged distasteful MB tyranny.

Re: Formula 1 | 2022 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 26-28 August 2022

After the hype Mercedes gave before the race, I believed that Merc will be one of the favorites to win this race.

Seems the Technical directives (TD)did nothing to Redbull, Ferrari & to Mercedes too.

All the first half, Mercedes drivers were speaking about porpoising (to bring the new TD) & even with the new TD in place, it doesn't alter the order of the top teams.

Thought Ferrari's race was normal. As usual they delivered the "Expect the unexpected" in the last lap.

Hopefully Ferrari do some more mistakes, learn themselves & fight properly for 2023.
That's the only thing i can hope for.

Re: Formula 1 | 2022 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 26-28 August 2022

Enjoyed the race. Lot of interesting things in it.
RedBull is on another level and Max is keeping them there. Wonder if these superlative performances will make Honda powertrain come back again. But Checo must feel terrible, similar car and yet Max storms from behind and leaves him a trail of dust.

Ferrari, are you in the race? Leclerc will get frustrated with the planning or lack of it and wont be surprised if another team will make an offer to him soon. Sainz narrowly escaped being beaten by George.

Mercedes is another puzzle, the apparent mistake of Lewis not withstanding they had a chance to get both cars in the top 5. Then a flying George went out of steam possibly due to an error. So slower cars and driver errors cost them a lot.

Aston Martin did well and Vettel is going out in style, hope they keep rising to make the midfield better.

Enjoyed the Albon train, it was annoying and amusing to watch at the same time but the Williams car is showing some promise, hopefully, good days are ahead for them. Will it tempt Ricciardo for a move will be interesting to watch.

Poor Bottas! He deserved better.

Re: Formula 1 | 2022 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 26-28 August 2022

RBR's straight line speed was something else. Even the commentators were talking about the helplessness of the Ferraris when the overtakes happened.
The lap 1 incident between Alonso and Lewis and the subsequent radio talk from Alonso, the penultimate lap pitting by Ferrari to try for the fastest lap only for Leclerc ending up with a 5 second penalty into 6th place were the comical highlights of the race.

What an excellent drive by Max. Superlative. The RB18 is fast and Max is making most out of it. Flawless driving.

Good battles in the midfield. Alpine extended lead over McLaren. Williams is also improving. I wonder what happened to Haas. They showed a lot of promise beginning of the season but then now again they have gone back of the pack.
Moment of the race for me was this :-

Exactly what I thought when it happened.

What political correctness narrative spewed by Toto and Co has been destroyed by Alonso? Care to share? Any links?

Deviant shadows of Toto and Lewis? Big words! What has that got to do with Mercedes employees moving out of the team? Are you aware that Toto owns part of the the team and that Mercedes AMG F1 team is no longer owned by Mercedes?

What social engineering experiments are Mercedes running? Hyper entitled mannerisms have replaced the juggernaut that Mercedes was?

Mate, what are you smoking? Just big words which don't make any sense.

Toto, Niki, LH, Nico Rosberg, Shov, Aldo Costa, James Allison and hundred of employees made Mercedes the juggernaut it "is" not "was".

Engineers change teams for various reasons, money and new challenges are the most common reasons for switching teams.

I know some of the new and old F1 fans are bitter about Mercedes's success in F1 but calling it a distasteful tyranny is a disgrace and it reflects how much you know about F1 and it's history. Mercedes won all those championships from 2014 till 2020 because they worked hard and designed the best chassis and an engine with an amazing concept which no one else had though about.

Several engineering concepts which Mercedes used to enhance performance and were questioned or banned by the FIA on the behest of other teams. Stuff like FRIC, used by Lotus and Mercedes in 2013, front suspension arm installation via extension from the wheel hub (banned for 2022), DAS, ventilated wheels and hubs etc.

I am a LH fan since 2006 and support Mercedes since 2013 but I would not denigrate RB or any other teams in this manner.

Mercedes did an awesome job and 2 drivers won the world championships for them and the other teams could not do enough to counter them until 2021. That is not tyranny.

As for LH, he is not a dead weight and will never be. Alonso is just bitter because a rookie beat him in his debut year and ever since that year FA has been destroying his career jumping teams at the wrong time. FA is a great driver let down by his politics.

Re: Formula 1 | 2022 Belgian Grand Prix | Spa-Francorchamps | 26-28 August 2022

Max's overall entire weekend was on a different level. Redbull's entire weekend shows how in sync everything is right now, Drivers, Strategists, engineers everyone.

As I read somewhere - " Max could sit out, watch the next 3 races on the Tv while having a drink and still come back ahead by 15 points"

Fans and journalists commenting on Ferrari's disaster with Leclerc's pitstop is one thing, now even drivers are commenting on their mistakes. Alonso said he was surprised when Leclerc went for a pitstop.

A very interesting race - good action in the front and also in the midfield!

Yes, the redbull seems to have great pace, but the unbeatable position they are in now is clearly due to the class that Verstappen is showing - suppose instead of Verstappen, if they had another driver like Checo, the point distribution is going to be completely different (If the difference between Verstappen and Perez - 90+ - gets distributed across the top drivers from other teams, the order will look completely different!)

Big hello TDCi4Life, wow you seem to be really “enamoured” with Mercedes, Toto and Lewis. Such strong words make it seem there is some personal enmity you have with them

I guess you must be following Formula 1 for a very long time, still would like to put it out there. In this sports history there have been teams who have dominated the sport during rule changes or otherwise. I would say dominated rather than being a “unchallenged and distasteful” period.

For example - Ferrari with Michael Schumacher, Red Bull with Sebastian Vettel and of course Mercedes with Lewis Hamilton. It’s how the sport was and guess it will be now (again) with Red Bull and Max Verstappen. So let’s say Max wins the next 2,3,4 titles on the trot, will you call that an “unchallenged and distasteful” Red Bull period or a time that a team dominated because they got everything perfect (car, team and driver) with hard work and intelligence.

Just saying

Cheers

Mate, no.44 is seven times world champion and deserves a lot of respect.

Long before Netflix which spurted new era fans, any driver who attracted mainstream media apart from Schumacher is Lewis.

He’s been instrumental in bringing Mercedes at top spot and the only reason he’s lagging this year is due to bad machine.

So think before you type.

The Lewis hate is crazy. It's as if people wait to comment and point out something. I liked RBR because they were the under dogs but the orange army is just pushing out the old fans with their vitriol.

Starting at the back and finishing first has been done by Schumi, Kimi, Lewis, Alonso and a bunch of others, tens of times. This was a good drive at par for any driver with the fastest car on the grid. Good race.

I disagree that LH is instrumental in Mercedes's success. He was put in the top machine and did extremely well.

Schumi was instrumental in Ferrari's success.
