Audi Sport has released a teaser image showcasing an F1 car with the brand's logo on the rear wing, all but confirming its entry into the sport.



The image showcases the rear wing of an F1 car, featuring the 'F1' logo on the side plate and Audi's 'four rings' on the top. While Audi is yet to reveal any details, the caption for the image reads, "more rings are coming, watch this space", indicating an official announcement very soon.

Earlier this week, there were reports suggesting Audi could acquire a majority stake in the Sauber F1 team. The German car brand is expected to make the official announcement during the upcoming Belgium Grand Prix, held between August 26th - 28th, 2022. As per these reports, Audi will build the F1 car chassis at the team's facility in Hunwil, while the engine will be developed in Germany.

Adam Baker who was hired for a 'Special tasks' role in late 2021, is expected to become the Managing Director for the new team.

With the amount of money that is flowing in Formula 1 these days, it has become very lucrative business. Since the change in ownership of F1, lot more companies are willing to join. It will be good for Sauber to be overtaken by such a big company, ofcourse the name "Sauber" will be removed.

Audi announces F1 entry from 2026 as a power unit supplier

Audi has officially announced its entry into the Formula1 world championship.

The German brand will enter the sport as a power unit supplier from 2026, which will also see the new engine regulations come into effect.



Audi's entry into F1 was made by Markus Duesmann, Chairman of the Board of Management, Audi AG and Oliver Hoffmann, Member of the Board of Management, Audi AG at a press conference, alongside FIA President, Mohammed Bin Sulayem and F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali ahead of the weekend's Belgium Grand Prix.

Duesmann also confirmed that Audi will not be entering as a separate team, but will be "lining up with an existing team", which will be announced later this year. He also mentioned that the power unit will be developed at Audi Sport's facility in Neuburg, Germany.

Adam Baker will run Audi's Formula1 project as CEO.

Don't understand this clearly. They are joining as a PU supplier, then why unveil a concept F1 car?

Also, wonder who will be the customer to their engines. The rumoured Porsche - Sauber team?

Porsche is expected to tie up with Red Bull. Audi is expected to takeover Sauber. Announcement expected later in the year. This coincides with Alfa Romeo announcing withdrawal of sponsorship for Sauber after 2023.

These are among the toughest as well as fastest on the calendar!
