Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

I am really sad knowing this. This is going to affect so many traditional viewers like my Mom who has been watching F1 with me. But now with this app only thing, it is going to be tough for her to watch as they returned home recently.

Whoever decided this, did more harm to the sport than good in the long run.

No option but to subscribe.

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

I have subscribed to F1 TV Pro on a monthly basis.
I just tried to log-in using my Samsung Smart TV's built in web browser, but the F1TV website throws an error - "This browser is not supported currently".

How to stream on TV? Using Fire TV Stick? Any other options?
Of course, I can connect my Laptop, but hate this multiple screen business.

Either you can sideload the apk and install on the smart TV, or you can launch the app on your phone and cast to the TV which is in the same network.

If you have a Firestick, you can search and download the app from the store.

Exactly!

Personally, I am going to wait till FP1 next week to decide whether or not to go for F1 TV Pro. Hotstar could have charged a little extra to watch F1 (like Rs 500-1000).

+1

I had a chat with customer care executive (since I missed 20% offer) and she suggested that there may be some offer announced for new subscription. So I am going to wait all the more when I generally don't watch FP sessions live.

Now, in the website annual subscription is showing available @ $29.99 (Annual). However, in the app it is showing INR 6,000 for annual package. Draconian pricing for India.
On iOS F1TV app, annual subscription fees is 2499, not sure how come it showing as 6000 for you.

I downloaded the app on fireTV (running on my samsung smart tv) and on subscription page it was showing Rs. 6000 and still it is showing the same. See below (excuse window reflection)

But on website and mobile app its showing Rs. 2499 which I checked later. This is bit strange. Looks like they themselves do not know how much to charge.

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

Personally I feel that 2499.00 per year seems high considering that there could be streaming issues as mentioned by other members. The only tempting part seems to be the archives section that has races from 1970s onwards.

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

Thanks to this thread I was aware of this update and managed to secure F1TV Pro at $25 with the early bird discount . Although I could not find the app in the play store on my Android TV, side loading the apk worked and the app is working fine.

I don't know who was being greedy here - Star or F1 but this is a bad move considering F1 viewership is still in the growing phase. I don't think there are enough people in India willing to spend 2.5k a year just to watch F1 !

I expect a huge dip in F1 viewership in India and a broadcast partner will be brought back next year or maybe even mid season.

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

Why you can’t watch F1 Bahrain GP on TV/Hotstar this weekend.

F1 believes broadcasters in India are not offering valuation “similar to what we felt it was worth”, leaving F1 TV Pro as the only streaming option here for now.

F1 TV Pro available with monthly and yearly subscription plans
F1 still exploring traditional broadcast deals in India
India the most important new market for F1 TV Pro

Quote:
We had discussions with Zee and one or two others too. I want to be candid about this – we felt that the valuation of many of those parties placed on our property wasn’t similar to what we felt it was worth
Quote:
Understandably a lot of broadcasters have a preoccupation with one of my favourite sports – cricket. They throw a lot of money into the sport. We looked at the market and connectivity. I’m not throwing a parallel between F1 and cricket, but we felt it was fascinating to see the valuation of the digital rights of the IPL versus the traditional rights
Quote:
Discussions are still open and we are open-minded of a more traditional deal coming into place but we won’t look at it instead of F1 TV
Quote:
We are committed to doing this. I’m not interested in doing something super last minute unless it’s worth it. We still have an approach that interests me, on how we can use F1 TV Pro alongside an Indian digital offering, whether it’s through an authentication bundle or one with a telco
For now, F1 TV Pro is the only live streaming option for those in India. However, F1 is not writing off traditional broadcasting in the country entirely.

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

BTW, F1 TV Pro is offering a 7 day trial period now. I subscribed to it yesterday so my billing period will start post the trial.

Hopefully I can cancel before that if required. Though with no other options left, will have to continue with it!

Amazing archives of old races, full race/quali replays. It even has 30 min race replays. Straight away, I went to the 2005 Japanese GP replay

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

Quite alarming to hear that Hotstar isn't going to be broadcasting the races this season! I've subscribed to Hotstar exclusively to watch F1 all these years. I don't watch any other sports, nor do I consume any other content on Hotstar. I guess I'm not going to renew this year, and I'm sure there are a lot more like myself.

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

Hi Guys, I subscribed to the yearly offer using Google subscription but it's not showing up in app. In Google subscriptions it asks me to open app to confirm plan but once the app opens, it just shows the main screen. I have written to customer support but is any idea how to complete this.?

Yes, I too received the mail. I was on the fence, but will trial the option and decide should I go for annual or monthly plans for European leg and other good races.
