exactly robin. f1 circus master bernie cannot afford to lose mclaren and particularly the golden goose hamilton who solely helped to boost the sagging television ratings, it would be suicidal for the sport.

I'd like it to have the same ending as well. Atleast from a bird's eye view, F1's not going to be worth watching if this "verdict" is cast in stone.

damn... i cannot imagine the sunday races with McLaren now. I guess I'll just find somethings more interesting to do than watch F1.

I guess Alonso was real smart in the way he has handled his role in McLaren team. Now he'll get himself out of the contract and move on with some other team. All that whining and complaining has only given him a good base to move on and not feel obligated to be with McLaren.

wait its not confirmed yet.it is likely that Mclaren have been found guilty of using the data but the punishment is still being delibrated.

The final verdict isn't out yet.

If they do get banned (rightly IMHO), the whining from the English press is going to be unbearable. And Ron would become a Saint overnight.

mclaren will not be considered for constructors title for 07 and 08, however drivers retain their points. it really shouldn't matter for the fans like us.

they will keep the point and can race for the WDC.
itv.com/f1 - McLaren loses all constructors' points

edit:

confirmed now:
100m euro fine
2007 WCC points stripped
2007 WDC not affected-both hamilton and alonso can keep the points and race for WDC.

I don't understand.

Mclaren is stripped of WCC because they used data to improve the cars but the drivers still can win the WDC in the same car ?

Seems like a hogwash. Why would Mclaren be interested in racing only for WDC only from day 1 in 2008 ?

there is no ruling for 08.only that the cars will be inspected before racing in 08.

and i think, the reason the WDC is kept as it is because Bernie fears F1 migh go down the drain if mclaren and the drivers are banned.

yep McLaren loose only 2007 points. It would've been a severe blow to the sport to have them out of the 2008 championship as well. This should teach McLaren (and other teams) to cheat in a more efficient way and use the office photo copier!

My gut feeling is that this verdict is not going to end here. This issue has in fact opened a can of worms and a lot of things about the way F1 functions today has to be revisited.

I'm still a McLaren fan and would like to believe that this whole episode was a big game played by FIA and Ferrari... so McLaren still rule!!

Agreed. This is a bit farcical. Aren't the drivers considered part of the team??
I think this is the diplomatic way out... F1 cannot afford to boot Hamilton and Alonso out of the title race. Their intra-team battle coupled with the war against Ferrari is what's selling tickets and generating worldwide interest. Take those two out, and we have a repeat of 2004 - Ferrari dominance. Not what Bernie wants.
Docking the team mollifies Ferrari somewhat. Anyway, hoping to see a good fight to the finish this year! And yea, I hope a Ferrari wins it
