He's been riding really well this season.
Isn't it a "First" World Championship for Ducati?

He deserves every bit of it. The only rider Rossi couldn't hustle up. The poor fellow couldn't stay on the bike last year, and couldn't get off it this year. As they say, not a single mistake...Wow! Looks like the marriage to Ducati and Adriana have brought Stoner luck.

Rossi of course was plagued by tyre problems otherwise maybe things could have been different, but even THE DOCTOR claimed, on more than 1 instance, that Stoner rode like a God.

There have been some wonderful races this year, but some equally boring ones as well.

Hope the tyre rules change otherwise MOTOGP is gonna go F1 way and become drab. I hope Dorna's listening, else it will lose them a lot of money.

P.S. If I wanted someone to be world champion apart from Rossi, it was Stoner. So I am damn happy. Good on ya, mate!

And yes Aditya, you are right!

Stoner is the new MotoGp Champion!!!

Stoner finally clinched the world title at Motegi, Japan today. The race was pretty exciting, the bridgestones worked wonders in the wet conditions the race started in but as the track dried out, they really began to suffer.

Stoner was running almost 2 secs a lap slower than Pedrosa and Rossi (all on wet tyres).

It almost looked as if Rossi could somehow delay Stoners championship win to the next race weekend but Rossi had major traction probs when he moved onto slicks. He once again came into the pits for a front wheel check which gave Pedrosa a chance to close in on Rossi for the 2nd championship position but the delay in changing onto slicks costed Pedrosa big time, as he highsided and crashed out of the race.

Rossi on the other hand was having a tough time judging his braking points and over shot into the gravel trap, which caused him to loose more time.

Capirossi won the race with Stoner and Rossi crossing the line in 6th and 14th place respectively.

He rode brilliantly, but I was still rooting for Rossi :(

Well, there is next year anyway.

PS: Anyone noticed how Rossi's and Schumi's season mirrors each other (apart from 2005). :

Rossi still came up from 8 to 1st on wet tyres, that kinda skill is exemplary.

Stoner rode well and has a better bike and tyres to boot. congrats to him

I hope Yamaha does something within the team and with the tyre company before they make more mockery of a brillant rider they have, have lost 2 yrs championship because of this.

MOTOGP is gonna see a lot of changes next year.

Jorge Lorenzo will move up the ranks to partner Rossi on the YZR-M1. This means Colin Edwards might have to join James Toseland (most probably WSBK champion this year) at Tech 3 Yamaha. Guintoli is moving to Pramac D'Antin Ducati and this might mean a loss of seat for Makoto Tamada (what a shame).

Randy DePuniet will move to LCR Honda (funny how they always pick crashing riders up), while his place will be taken by John Hopkins with Anthony West. So Capirossi moves to Suzuki while Marco Melandri replaces him at Ducati (wow, 2 awesomely talented young riders....Rossi's got a lot at his hands next year). So only the Repsol Honda line-up stays the same.

The FIM is yet to take a decision on the 1-tyre rule suggested by tire manufacturers who are not so competitive this year... Let's see what comes of it...

Is Rossi becoming too involved in F1 to concentrate on Moto GP?? Two years on the trot... My money is on the doctor next year!

Die hard Duc fan and am so glad they won it. Stoner was stunning through out the year. I forget the race but there was one in which Rossi and Stoner exchanged blows several times before Rossi made the mistake and Stoner pulled away. This guy is young and here to stay, Moto GP becomes interesting again!!

One of the reasons Rossi teamed-up with yamaha so he could help improve yamaha. If he wanted to stick with a good motorcycle / team then he'd have stayed with Honda's RC211. I guess somehow he's not been winning for too long and its getting to him.
Inspite of all the problems with the motorcycle he manages to ride around them !
Rossi on bad bike and Stoner on a Solid (what Honda was last year and before) = Stoner no.1 and Rossi no.2. I hope however the Yammie steps up then it'll be great to see the two battle out!

As far as updates go this season there will be two GP's in the USA. One in Laguna Seca and the other at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. FIA's contract with Indianapolis has ended and Indy speedways managed to bag MOTO GP. The track been under construction for a while now and the race will be held in September.
