Minardi actually pay their drivers more than how much Jordan do!
and look at Ferrari driver figures. They pay a driver more than how much they pay the whole team crew. 51 million compared to 48.3 million.

very interesting info. What surprises me most is the relatively low cost of R&D. Hard to believe!

I think thats because there isnt a lot of "testing" involved in that R&D budget. (Since windtunnel testing & racetrack testing are listed seperately).

Whats interesting in my opinion is the fact that the "engine budget" is 3 times higher than the next highest budget! Incredibly high....no doubting where most of the technology goes!

ps - Total cost = 1% of India's GDP. (correct me if i am wrong...?)

Building a F1 car is very cheap affair ... It does not take much amount as compared to other expenses .... The teams build around 5 cars for one season .... they have lots of extra spares built like rear wings , front wings , engine covers and nose cones ...... Gear box and engines are NOT counted into that expense .... they are separate from car building account ...... The Racing, testing , Travelling and R&D , Corporate Hospitality and team personnel salaries take the F1 expenses to that kind of high figures

An FIA certified monocoque, fuel systems, hydraulics, suspension, chasis, etc. in total cost about $250,000 - $300,000 max.
this figure is exclusive of the engine, R&D costs

No of cars manufactured by the teams ( for the entire year ) :
Toyota - 11
Ferrari - 8
BAR - 6 + 2 (from prev. yr)
McLaren - 7
Williams - 7
Sauber - 6
Red Bull - 6
Renault - 5
Minardi - 4
Jordan - 3

You are wrong. From the top of my head Indian GDp is afew hundred billion $ so the total cost is much less than 1%.

Umm...yeh.

Well the total F1 expenditure is 2.5billion(=1%) so x100 = 250billion = "couple of hundred billion" as you said!

Im still not saying i am correct, but just asking you to show some figures to prove me incorrect (since i am too lazy).

Considering Renault's overall budget compared to the other tier-one teams, they are giving them quite the run for the money.

Well, i too was lazy to look up the actual figures earlier but couldn't resist your challenge

In jan. 2005 "THE Financial Times (FT) has estimated India's total gross domestic product (GDP) in 2004 at nearly $650 billion. This was revealed in `India Awakes', a special FT report on India released at the World Economic Forum meeting at Davos in Switzerland on Friday."
The link: http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/...2400690400.htm

So (2.5B/650B)*100 = 0.4%

PS: i wan't trying to proove you wrong/stupid or anything.

Thanks or the info Deeps,

Good to know a random figure like this, as insignificant it may be to any practical aplication! lol
