Lewis Hamilton - Formula 1 World Champion 2008

A thread for comments, views ,reviews etc on Lewis Hamilton, THE YOUNGEST EVER F1 CHAMPION!

Felipe Massa did all he could in the Brazilian Grand Prix with a brilliant win at Interlagos, but in the most dramatic fashion possible, Lewis Hamilton secured his maiden Formula One title.

Congratulations LEWIS.

Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton on becoming the youngest F1 WDC winner. Michael Schumacher has tipped him to be the most successful of the lot in this era of Formula One. Still a long way to go, but a beginning has been made by LH.

There was something fishy about the way Timo Glock lifted in the last corner and let Hamilton pass. Until then it was Massa all the way.

A deserving world champion for sure. It's been a while since we have seen such a hard, fast racer and he can only get stronger and stronger (machinery permitting). Let the reign of McLaren and Lewis begin and recreate and relive the days of the McLaren-Senna partnership. He ought to have been a double world champion by now but no matter, it will happen very soon!

And Mpower, there was something very very fishy. I compeltely agree with you. See when you try to drive on wet roads with slicks the car stops behaving like a car and starts to mimic a fish...a fish wriggling and high on ecstasy!

What would be total tally of Mass & Hamilton if we go by the point system prior to 2004? just being inquisitive.... that's all.

It was very sad to see Massa lose, especially after the way he drove the entire weekend. But all credit to Hamilton for not losing his cool, he could have easily spun or have done something silly had he tried to desperately overtake vettel in the last lap...

As somebody pointed out in the other F1 thread, Glock and Trulli did similar times in the slicks in the last lap, so it could well be real reason. I don't see any conspiracy here.

regards
tifosi.

Good to see Hamilton getting the title this time. He got "a bit" lucky this time. Last year he wasn't.

I don't see any conspiracy here. It was the corners just before and after the finish line, where most of the drivers skid in Interlagos. No wonder why Glock had to slow down at the last corners.

Though, Hamilton could have finished the season in stlyle..

No point in stirring up controversies now. What "ifs" dont have a place anymore. Lewis Hamilton is the 2008 Champion. Period. Congratulations to him.

Massa was brilliant yesterday. It was his turn to get unlucky this time around.

It is indeed a very well earned one after all !!

Leave alone the penalties after all the racism and even the bad luck black cat thrown on him !! I really feel Hamilton is the MAN.

The 2008 WDC.

I almost pulled muscle when I punched the air hearing Karun's exclamation about Glock.

Personally i believe, the guy who mins the max no of races, should be the world champion.

Hamilton won the championship by stroke of luck or. . . . .(considering Mclarens dubious past...fixing cant be ruled out).

Anyways this does not take the fact away that Lewis rocks as a driver.

Cheers,
AC

I am very happy to see many hardcore tifosis accepting and congratulating Hamilton as the 2008 F1 world champion.
This is the true spirit of sport.

And those who are whining and assuming of all the wrong things and even wishing and expecting something bad to happen, guys! Please get a life!
This doesn't live upto the real spirits of the sport.

EDIT: Exactly, my point Joz! That's all what it matters now.

I wish Hamilton more championships ahead. But it shouldn't be easy ones and he should fight hard physically and mentally to achieve it.
And ofcourse, may we have more of this same nailbiting finishes ahead.

A not very convincing win. Massa was definitely a more deserving champion. But I guess Lewis just about managed to get a point more and I guess in the end that's what matters.
