The afternoon session was really bad for Ferrari and McLaren. Rosberg in the Williams set the pace.
Hamilton slipped to 11th, Massa to 16th and Kimi to 18th. The frustration seems to be creeping in. Kimi was fined for speeding in the pit lane.
Kovalainen dropped to 19th.

Ferrari spent the Friday practice doing race simulations. They are not the quickest for obvious reasons, they are not slow either. They should be good in the race

Kers on both Ferrari cars as of tomorrow at Bahrain

Sakhir, 24th April 2009 – At Sakhir the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro’s technicians decided in the usual meeting for the debriefing in the evening after Friday’s free practice sessions that the F60s driven by Massa and Raikkonen will be fitted with the KERS as of tomorrow. The kinetic energy recovery system, the Scuderia has been testing during the winter here in Bahrain, will be present on both cars as of tomorrow, just as the two drivers have hoped for.

Possible updates on the F60 by Spain:

1. A change in geometry of the front suspension; the upper wishbones will be now placed much lower

2. A new floor

3. A DD diffuser. It will not be similar to the ones of toyota and williams. It's more like a triple deck diffuser in the shape of DD diffuser

4. Changes to the rear suspension

5. A new KERS cooling solution

6. Change in the seating position of the driver

..........the rumours are that the new updates will give the car an extra 8-tenths per lap. They found 30% more downforce in the wind tunnel and in the simulators.

Ferrari has a pretty bad time in Bahrain. If they finish Sunday's grand prix without a World Championship point, it will be the first time in the team's history that they have failed to score a single point in the opening four races of a season. On Friday's running, both Massa and Kimi Raikkonen struggled for pace with Massa finishing down in 16th place. This looks really bad!

Alonso, despite finding himself 17 points behind Champions leader Jenson Button, believes the team are still in with a chance of winning the title. If they can repeat the performance showed in China they can progress on to Q3 and fight for points in the race.

The Official Formula 1 Website

Pre race weights out for the Bahrain gp.

Ferrari really going heavy.

Lewis and Button have the same weight, looks like clawing back.

Looking at Ferrari's current form, just hope both Massa and Raikkonen will atleast finish the race

Ferrari quote from F1 | ITV Sport
“Our aim is simple: to wipe the zero off our score card in the championship.”

Its a neat circuit man. I have been there. I hope to be @ Abu Dhabi later this year as well.
My take on ferrari performance, looking @ those fuel loads I think they want to limit it to a 2 stop [doubt with tack temps in high 40s to 50s] and gain places OR the KERS is killing it [added 35-40KG]. If I remember right during second qual session Massa was going faster till I think he messed up a gear or it sliipped [not sure] and he had like one or two corners left.. so I think the car can do same pace as others is what I would like to believe!
All said and done race is race and hence lets see how it unfolds in few hours

Its worth for the 80+ HP. Especially in a situation where engine revs are cut down from 19000 to 18000 rpm. The only problem with KERS is that if presented early without enough grip, one will spin off.

Well then thats one really bad aim i must say.
From Hero to zero in no time.
The downfall has begun.

Not really.Everyone has seen what the interim diffuser has dont to MP24.Lets wait till Spain to see if it brings change of fortunes to the Tiffosi. But unfortunately we might need to wait for 2-3 races to see F60's competitiveness when compared with MP24.

I think Hero to Zero is more applicable to Mclaren in the current context. From having the defending WDC to facing the possibility of being kicked out of this season for a few races, boy they have come a long way.

They seem to be trying hard sacking Dave Ryan, sending Ron out,Whitmarsh's appology, talks held by Mclaren's sponsors with FIA,nothing seems to be working.

How many times have we heard this statement in the past few decades?
