Isidre Esteve Pujol - A motorsports Inspiration

I've been watching the Dakar 2009 stages for the past few days.
And I was amazed by the determination of this dakar rider/driver called Isidre Esteve Pujol from Spain.
Apparently, he got paralyzed after a crash in 2007 riding for KTM in the Spanish championship.
That did not deter him from participating in the world's most gruelling, unforgiving rally event. He drove a Ssangyong with all the controls on the steering wheel.

Shows how one can take a man out of the car, but can never take the car out of him.

True Spirit of a race driver.
I remember when in 1979 Nikki Lauda has crashed in his ferrari and was lying int he flames for 5 minutes which burnt off his half scalp(reason why he wears a cap always).he came back wit in months and won the Drivers championship the next year.Thats called determination.

OMG, I have not been following the Dakar scene for sometime. Pujol was by far one of the best riders in the fray. Its sad to hear about his accident.
Reminds me of what happened with Wayne Rainey, he was my childhood hero and it brought tears to my eye watching him go down in a crash which would render him paralyzed for life.
He did make a comeback , but as a team owner instead.
Hats off to the indomitable spirit, this is what makes them champions!

Bravo! Reminds me of Alex Zanardi and Wayne Rainey.
