Hated alonso for his on-field antics with schumi during their title clash , however being a passionate fan of Ferrari , I think alonso will be a asset from vehicle development and driving aggression a la Schumi should revive ferrari's fortunes in the years to come and keep the team on top of the table.

And this man Raikkonen...

Raikkonen set for official WRC debut - F1technical.net

I never wanted to see the Spanian in a scarlet suit! But if thats going to make Ferrari better... I am game! Bring it on Spanian!

I still want Kimi to stay with the F1 team for 2010! May be Massa can be shown the door to Fiorano track along with Gene & Badoer!

Alonso likes to win at any cost and sitting in a Renault for 2 years would have made him more hungry. This will bode well for Ferrari.

With Kimi, it is just the opposite. He finally won the championship in 2007 after having come close a few times. Since then he has found it hard to motivate himself.

I wonder how all this is going down with Flavio Briatore? After all he was the one who accepted Alonso with open arms after his not so happy stint with McLaren.

@iceman7,

Alonso re-signed with Renault for three years, with a buy-out option for the last two.
Though, he would be a great addition to Ferrari, I still see him as mis-fit to Ferrari. Especially after he called Schumi the most penalized driver in F1, and Ferrari as cheat.

Its been a while and I forgot to post but Ferrari came out quite strongly and denied that rumour a day or two after it came out in the first place. More posturing or are they serious?

Thats Ferrari's classic response!

Kimi's transfer was done the same fashion. The whole world knew it, but Ferrari announced it officially only when Michael announced retirement in Monza.

I hope Kimi/Massa dont give us a surprise this year at Monza!

'Ferrari to pay-off Raikkonen' - Planet-F1 News - from planet-f1.com

Is it all over? I'm gonna miss Kimi a lot. Glad he could take away a WDC anyway.

They say this is the worst kept secret in F1.
Not sure what to make of it.

This news may have been believeable before Massa's accident happened. But now, post-Massa's accident, if Ferrari decide to bring in Alonso & relieve Kimi, they still have only 1 competitive car. So, even if Alonso can win the WDC, Ferrari can't win the constructors championship (I'm talking abt 2010 season).

Massa's return to F1 racing seems quite some distance away. So, Ferrari's better option would be to "buy out" Massa. Don't think I'm heartless. I do have sympathy for Massa but what if he can't return to F1 because of his injury? Ferrari have to be prepared for that. Already, this season, their chance of coming 3rd in the constructors championship (which is what they're realistically aiming for) looks remote because only 1 car is scoring points. If Ferrari retain Kimi & get Alonso in the place of Massa, they'll have 2 excellent drivers giving them the best chance of winning both championships.

I'd like to hear your take on that.

@akrish01,

agreed, but Schumi is looking good as if he was in 2006. Is he (Ferrari) just waiting for his neck injury to heal? Who never knows?

I think Massa will be back next year. He's supposedly returning in Brazil this season so it shouldn't make a difference to Ferrari's plans for next year.
