That's a stupid comment from Bernie. Either Renault did do something wrong in which case they could easily see a multi season ban (so there's no quitting involved, its them getting thrown out) because this is a very serious violation of the rules and safety of F1. Or they did nothing wrong in which case there will be no punishment. It can't be in between.

It can't be put any better! No point raking up issues from the past. I wonder what will be the outcome of this.

Renault to face FIA over Singapore charges - Planet-F1 News - from planet-f1.com

Wow, this is huge. Didn't even expect something like this. So now, if Alonso is disqualified, Hamilton will have won the championship comfortably and the whole Glock conspiracy will be irrelevant. And Rosberg might get his first win!

Some news. If this news is true, then we can say that sportsmanship is lost in F1. It is different from what Schumacher and Rubens did when they were in Ferrari. Rubens had deliberately slowed down from what I remember to let MS pass by him. Also there were instances when people claimed that why only MS's team mate's car has issues, but this is beyond anything else.

FIA charges Renault with causing Piquet crash - Worldcarfans

Article :
Quote:
F1's governing body has charged Renault with conspiring with Nelson Piquet to crash deliberately at the 2008 Singapore grand prix.

Following a tip-off that came to light around the time of last weekend's Belgian GP, the FIA interviewed team members at Spa-Francorchamps and has been carrying out a further investigation in recent days.

Now, representatives of the Enstone based outfit "have been requested to appear before an extraordinary meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris" on 21 September, a statement on Friday confirmed.

The FIA accuses the French team of conspiring with Piquet, ousted by boss and manager Flavio Briatore recently, "to cause a deliberate crash ... with the aim of causing the deployment of the safety car to the advantage of its other driver, Fernando Alonso".

The World Council will decide whether Renault breached Article 151c of the International Sporting Code which relates to "fraudulent conduct" that is against "the interests of motor sport".

Penalties can range from fines to total expulsion from F1.

Well, as expected, it was Piquet who started the investigation

Not exactly, he would have got amnesty from FIA to come out with truth (if at all there is any truth in this story), similar to what happened with Alonso and De La Rosa in 2007

Career? Since when did he have any chance of restarting his career after such disappointing seasons?

Well if this is true - then our Indian Govt has read it correctly - F1 is a business not a sport !

Poor FIA, it seems that Massa realised it immediately. In fact sources claim that he went to Flavio and said that he wanted it to happen.

Flavio Briatore is not new to controversies, is he?. The Renault in its earlier avatar of Benetton was possibly one of the most corrupt teams which flouted rules, showed scant regard to human safety in its effort to win. If this incident about Singapore GP is proved right then Flavio has once again flouted rules to win putting his driver at risk.
