thats really funny!

Sad, but funny. The safety car could battle with the Ferrari's though, they are not going to leave F1 anytime soon.

This looks like a Nissan 350z with a Merc Body kit. What a nice way to spend all your money. This car is boring...

Whoever says this car is wierd ugly or boring should be shot.... Please reserve your comments till you see it in the Autoshow in Jan. Anyways, the news is most probably nonsense. As the Safety car will continue to be the SL 65 AMG.

Forth coming E class coupe AMG - most probably
If they can place the beacons on the folding roof of the sl65, i am sure they will find a way to place the lights on the SLS if they want to.

Not merely disconnected - removed to lighten car + a roll cage

You are not alone, I too think the car looks good and is a neat interpretation of the older classic gullwing.

However I support the call given by KRRaj (below).

So essentially are they using a SL65 AMG black series as the safety car?

This car is still boring. I may not buy one in my life time but it still is boring. I really dont understand the meaning or the point of this car. The front end looks like a Nissan and the rear end looks like a Honda S2000. I have no idea what MB is up to. They used to have a design standard, but this car makes it all go to the dogs really.

I have to say this, the old gullwing was stunning in its time when cars were looking like boxes on wheels. But this one, I am speechless coz it is just too ugly. I should say, the new 2009 BMW Z4 looks a million times better than this one.

But if all of us are looking for a safety car, bring on the 2009 SL63 AMG please, not this.
