Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

I would bet my money on the fact that they will NOT allow any kind of camera (Mobile phone cam exempted), be it DSLR, SLR or a basic 3K digital camera. Camera is not allowed for an IPL T20 Cricket match, so in an advanced event like F1, I dont think indian organisers are broad-minded enough to allow Camera.

If they want to allow only Non-SLRs, they must hire some proffessional photgraphers, or someone who is well versed with Camera. A camera pro will not do a non-white collar job. Secondly this is a chance to bribe. He can say that this camera is not allowed and make 100/- in a jiffy. A person with 50K + of camera equipment will more than happily pay 100/- as bribe.

Secondly, w.r.t professional camera for Press / commercial use, How will they distinguish between an ordinary person with an SLR and a press person (without ID Card) in Mufti. Thirdly, If i am a non-press guy, I click snaps and post them on facebook / Internet and someone copies them, how will they track them ?

The Straight forward way is to allow camera of any kind but i dont think Indian organizers are matured enough to allow this. The right way would be to check at the Practice day, but who will be the scapegoat ?

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

Friends,
Look at rule no. 17 (terms and conditions) at the back of the ticket. I quote " Personal electronic devices (including still cameras, mobile telephones and other handheld personal communications devices) are permitted within the Venue unless advised, provided that any recording, data and any image, including photographic images and any still pictures derived or capable of being derived from a Recording (image) of the event that is recorded, stored and/or created thereon is used for personal, private and non-commercial purposes only."
So, it should be good to take cameras inside!

Regards,

Rajiv

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

RA.ONE on the Force India nose. SRK was also in talks with the mercedes team and Schumi's car was also supposed to have RA ONE all over the car, can someone confirm on this.

Another news making rounds is,

Williams F1 - Unofficial: Raikkonen signs up at Williams for 2012

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

Nice set of pictures on the official formula1 website. Check out the Gallery section. The venue looks impressive and ready. Much better job than what South Korea did last year. We will see the true beauty of the circuit next year.

Looks like rust to me.
It seems they are washing the entire circuit. So we should see it in better shape for the practise session today.

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

A few questions:

Will the team trucks and trailers be flown from Europe too or did the teams already purchase Volvos available in the Indian market just for the Indian GP?

I never really understood the logistics involved in F1, all the parts and cars are flown, but what about the trucks?

Anyone going to the GP please do snap pics of the trucks too! BTW, is the SLS AMG imported too or does MB India provide one? Is there anything different from the regular SLS AMG and the safety car besides the roll cage?

Team's use their own trucks, Trailers and motor homes, they fly them where ever there is an F1 race. SLS AMG Safety cars are part of the FIA team and travel to all venues. you can say all are part of the package.

You just can't keep the Tata Ace out of any road in India.

Renault R31 will have a new name for the Indian GP.

Now something which is not funny. Commentary cell for the BBC team has no window and nowhere near the track. The organizers should have done a better job here.
