+1 to that. This genius not only bought out a team from another manufacturer at the nth hour, but also won the debut race / championship! Hats off to Brawn. And now, he makes quite a tidy packet. Not bad for a year of work, wot?

Imagine this : The entire of 2009, Ross Brawn was working in an unorganised structure (team born out of chaos at the start of the year) and with all certainty, he must have been multi-tasking big time. Now, with Mercedes $$$ and a corporate structure coming in, Brawn will be in a position to delegate more and focus on what he does best : Technicals + Strategies! Man, I canNOT wait for March 2010!

That all plain metallic grey on the merc looks silky smooth man. But i know it won`t be the same when coming to the track. All sponsor will have their "stickers" glued on every inch of space available on the body.

@ GTO: by looking at the pics posted by KRF1. it seems ross even saved money on a paint job. The car used in 2009 season by brawn was somewhat similar in terms of looks to honda's car. I mean atleast he should have chosen some graphics.

P.S. Well if merc is taking over brawn then, what happens to the man behind the scenes (Richard Branson).

Exactly! It'll be quite similar to the current McLaren livery. Maybe there'll be a little less red. In any case, it'll be an improvement over the rather loud flouroscent wheels that Brawn had.

Rightly said GTO, Ross Brawn is the best when it comes to Strategies, jus adding up to your imagination, If only Merc ropes in Kimi, that would be a interesting combo to watch out for

For sure, I think silver will feature very prominently on the new livery, should be classy.

Maclaren might drop the silver/chrome from their livery as that was mainly due to Merc.

Nope. They've already said they won't be changing their livery for the next couple of years.

Right, I missed out on Maclaren news amidst all the Mercedes excitement. So chrome, fluorescent orange and black it is for Macca.

BTW, i'm really glad Brawn continues as team principal. With him continuing the team should again be at the forefront next season, especially as they will not miss the "yellow button" read: KERS boost unlike Macca and Ferrari.

Now that Button is joinin Mclaren, it seems Kimi has nowhere to go.

Dont know who is going to have the last laugh - Button or Merc

PETRONAS new title sponsor of Mercedes GP

Former BMW Sauber sponsor Petronas has become title sponsor of the new Mercedes GP team, as part of a long-term agreement announced on Monday morning. The deal will see Petronas's logos emblazoned on Mercedes' silver arrows as well as team liveries, with the team set to be known as Mercedes GP Petronas.
The deal brings to an end a 14-year partnership with the Swiss-based Sauber team, which became BMW Sauber in 2006. Having entered the sport in 1995 with Sauber, Petronas were expected to continue with their long-term partners in 2010, after Peter Sauber secured a slot on the grid despite BMW's withdrawal.
Founded in 1974, Petronas (Petroliam Nasional Berhad) is Malaysia's national oil and gas company, with global operations in over 30 countries. Earlier this year, the company posted a net profit of $15.3bn from a turnover of $77bn.
Along with its Mercedes GP deal, Petronas will also be title sponsor of the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix. The new Mercedes GP cars will be on-track for the first time on February 1 in Valencia, when pre-season testing gets underway.

Norbert Haug, Mercedes (Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Vice President):
“We are very pleased to begin our long-term partnership with our new title partner Petronas. Daimler, our premium brand Mercedes-Benz and Petronas will work together both on and off the track and I am sure that everybody involved will guarantee their absolute dedication to success. Petronas' home base in Kuala Lumpur is located in the middle of a fast-growing region for the automotive industry which makes this new partnership even more valuable. Within the limits of the new Formula One resource restrictions, the Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team will be well positioned to achieve our goals. We will all strive to present efficient success in the future knowing at the same time that the new Formula One season with some fundamental rule changes will be a particularly challenging one.”

Ross Brawn, Mercedes (Team Principal):
“Everyone at Mercedes GP is delighted to confirm our long-term agreement with Petronas and we look forward to working closely with our new partner in the future. The collaboration of the premium automotive brand Mercedes-Benz and a company as prestigious as Petronas gives our team a fantastic base from which to achieve our ambitions of competing at the top level of Formula One and building on the success of 2009 which saw the team achieve the Constructors' and Drivers' Championships. Our plans for the new season are progressing well, as is the development of our 2010 challenger, and we look forward to seeing the car run in the new Silver Arrows and Petronas livery at the Valencia test in February.”

Perfect 10 for Shumacher?

Well, now that Shumacher is officially back, thought it will be fit to check what the sports betting fraternity thinks about it. Well, the champ is currently the third favourite to win the title. Not a bad re-start for a 41yr old.

Can Shumacher do a "Perfect 10" - 10 F1 championships? He has 7, needs 3 more to get there. Mad, stupid idea? What do you think?

I'd be impressed if he gets the eighth alone. The way I see it, unless Mercedes produces a spectacular car that's as far ahead as Brawn were this year, Schumacher will struggle to keep up with the current crop. The one record that looks breakable in the next three years is the 100 GP win record. I'd bet on him being the first to break that one.

Coming Back of Shumacher itself is a great news, everyone know he is good at startegy which helps the team. but at this age(40 yrs) let see how he fairs. Also when so many teams leaving F1, he will again pull the crowd back to F1.
