A1 Rules

Hi There ,

Let me first tell you I was one of the lucky ones who got to be there at the Launch of the A1 GP INDIA TEAM CAR LAUNCH.

The car looked fantastic. The Indian colour’s on the car made it even more special. The launch was a slightly low-key affair compared to Pakistan.

The national Anthem was played and every one in the Hall stood up. That made blood in my views rush so fast that it could explode. There was the usual speeches by our beloved Politicians and Anil Kapoor and the works, but One thing I liked about the launch was the speech made by Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum, where he said that before the start of every race on the final start up line an announcement would be made " GENTLE MEN DRIVERS, FOR THE PRIDE OF YOUR COUNTRY, PLEASE START YOUR ENGINES" . That was the best I had heard that night.

A nice dinner and some nice performances followed the evening.

But the real fun was to start the next day when the Sheikh was to take the A1 Team India car for a spin around India Gate. I along with some other friends were there much before the test drive was to start. man i am glad I went early . I managed to sit in the car and also helped in setting up the car and start it as well . the sound is fantastic and the smell of the rubber and the fuel is intoxicating .people i had fun . the only problem was the people on India gate they refused to vacate the road and the test drive is delayed for almost half an hour because of this . I had pity on the Sheikh as he was wearing a triple layer black colored nomex driving suit and was parked in the middle of India gate in full sun. He must have roasted himself and lost a good 2 to 3 kgs in the heat..

Well the ride was nice and we helped in dismantling the car and them it was nicely sent to the airport.

I know some people who would be directly responsible for the running of the team, and thus have some insights. The team is basically made up of Foreign Mecks , mostly Malaysians .but the control is TOTALLY Indian.

The fact that every one has the same car and its basically the drivers skill that would determine the end result , is a nice thing. I am also hoping to see Team India not only beating Team Pakistan but also the rest of the Teams.
My best wishes go out the Team.

Yes My Friend ,

I sure did have a blast. Well the fact that the issue of Karun getting his licence sorted out and now being cleared to Drive for india is over , they will test again soon and then the better driver would ebe selected. as of right now there is a close fight between Karun & Aarman.
I wish both them good luck and may they fly our tri color high !!!

A1 Gp should be real interesting cause its gonna be a fight between countries more than a fight between drivers.....

there are about 21 confirmed countries so far.. and the Czech Republic just making an entry... which makes it 22 countires....

check out www.a1gp.com and www.a1mania.com for further information.. you can get the list of countries and drivers for each team there..... there are pretty fast and competitive drivers there..... check out the sites

12 seconds behind the pace setter. But, they only did 2 laps, so something must be wrong with the car.

yup exactly what i was about to say..the team has just done two laps and i think even the top speed is way less compared to the others..so it was just a warm up kinda laps i guess..if it is then they ought to be in the middle of the wolf pack..wonder what went wrong with the car that they put in only 2 laps..

In the 3 practice sessions so far, Karun Chandok has managed to finish:

1. LAST

2. DNF (Collided with Jos Verstappen)

3. 22 out of 25, behind the Pakis

I dont know whats up, but we expected him to be somewhere midfield - not making up the tail.

So far even iam disappointed looking at the times in the practice sessions, hope they have sorted out the issues with the car if they have any.
Just to remind all about the TV schedule for A1GP on Star sports:
Qualifying - 14:57
Sprint race - 17:57
Race - 19:27
Wish the team all the best.

Guys why don't we have a poll for this? It would be easier to know how many are interested.

And A1 cars have a Boost button which provides 30bhp. Any idea abt that?? Do they run out of "boost". And what if its N-O-S!!!
