Good luck Karun.

I prefer to see him race for other teams rather than with Force India, that gives us 2 teams to support other than our favourite drivers.

Minardi were still way more experienced at that time. Being backmarkers is okay but being a brand new team with no real experience as well as rookie drivers is not a good combo. I hope it works out well for him but going into Campos means he really needs to be spectacular to stand out in the paddock. End of the day, I suppose he decided that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush and took the plunge.

i think its Punj Lloyd, JK and amaron.....the figure is not something substantial......it is the bernie factor that got him this seat...he desperatly wanted an indian driver in the grid....

May this be just the start for Karun. If he impresses in his rookie year, that Force India seat is there for the taking.

congrats to karun for a much deserved place. Hope he does well for his team. The F1 is fast gaining popularity with the indian spectators since the last couple of years and the huge indian viewership will defenitely provide more moolah for the FIA. Also considering 2011 Indian GP it makes it even more interesting for us folks.

Might be since VJM did not give him a chance in Force India

Some quotes from VJM on KC
Quote:
“I would love to give Karun a go as a test driver first,” Vijay Mallya was quoted

“The race seat I think he is a year away from.

“I need to see him winning GP2 consistently, not an odd one here and there.

“He has it in him to do it and when he does it, sure I would love to have an Indian driver in the car if I could.

“But at the end of the day, on the one hand I cannot be encouraging the team’s performance and then doing something that might compromise the result.

“I don’t believe that Karun is there yet. I’m not saying he won’t get there. I am hoping he will.”

Well said McLarenRulez. And people please stop comparing Karun with Alonso. The only similarity I see is that both started with a back-marker team. But HRT haven't really tested their car.

I second VM's thoughts. He has hit the bulls eye with his assessment.

KC has max'd out on skills, IMO.
He's completed 3 years in GP2.
With new teams coming in this year, this is the best chance for him to get onto F1.

Those who diss his driving and compare him to Alonso,et all.
Please applaud that another Indian has reached the pinnacle of motorsports. That would do.
We need to be compatriots here.
