Agreed he was a bit slow and frankly speaking boring to watch :D, but the fact of the matter is , he is leading the championship right now !

Thank you both! much appreciated. I have removed the results while quoting the message as it was too big.
Did Schumacher finish the race successfully as i dont see him in the 17 finishers list?
Abhinav, why don't you read the race report on any F1 site? It'll tell you everything you need...

Massa is doing reasonably well. He started behind Alonso and was ahead of Alonso after the first lap. How can you say he was slower than Alonso?
If you look at the standings you will see that Massa is leading right now. Even if Alonso hadn't retired, he would still be the joint leader.

His car was selecting a neutral on every downshift, hence engine overrevving under open accelerator pedal, led to too much wear of engine and result everyone knows |
Ferrari engineers should have advised Alonso to take it easy on the engine and bring the car back home. Passing a McLaren is not the same as passing a Lotus.
Penny wise and Pound Foolish IMO.

Massa has been rated to be too good on tracks with fast sweeping corners. Malaysia is one place which was historically favorite for Massa so far for the same reason.
In Malaysia Massa was consistently 0.3 to 0.5 second slower than Alonso who was driving a limping Ferrari with a broken clutch.
The Ferrari being much faster than the Mclaren I was expecting Massa to catch Hamilton after overtaking Button and start attacking him for position. But, he was more than 5 seconds away in the last lap of the race.
He is slow at the moment. I seriously hope that he bounces back in good form through the championship. Its not going to help Ferrari in any form otherwise.
EDIT: Take the standings with a pinch of salt since its only the 3rd round being complete. ChineseGP will shuffle the order completely.
Massa doesnt seem to be a hardcore racer and come across as averge many times. He doesnt seem to compete aggressively as some others.
As for Schumi it is a wait and watch. He seem to be on the 4-8 position constantly and not able to improve further. If he gets the qualifying right then we are in for a good fighting race soon.

Hamilton, really needs a good whack from the drivers. This man should learn what sportsmanship is. Being aggressive is something, but being arrogant and stupid is a different thing. Good for him that he escaped with a warning.
|
Hamilton i think drove a brilliant race. From 22nd to 6th on a dry track is simply awesome.
What happened with petrov was not aggressive at all. Nor was he blocking petrov. I think it was just great strategy by lewis. He was anyways much faster than him.

Mate, I would seriously appreciate his driving skills & the brilliant race he drove but there is also something called sportsmanship.
There are certain unwritten rules which are agreed between drivers during the pre-race drivers meet to maintain the spirit of the rules and ensure sportsmanship all around the track.
The change of direction being restricted to only one direction when someone gets a tow on another car is to ensure overtaking and also give every one a chance to fight.
If every driver starts to break this rules and start weaving on track when somebody gets a tow, its only going to look absurd and Hamilton was simply setting a bad example and making more sour feelings among his fellow drivers on track.
Rain again and a great race. I think we have now seen two ways how rain can give us a great race and some superb driving.
1. Rain during the qualifying sessions to mess up the grid
2. Rain during the race
A deserving victory by Vettel who made a great move on his team mate. But I would say this - the drivers and the team for me was HRT Racing. To get BOTH the cars to finish in what is their third GP - testing and all takes grit and guts!!
Lotus need to clean up the act to get back to be the best of the newbies cos the newbies ain't sitting down by any measure.

Actually, he's been out for three years. There is a precedent to this kind of thing. Niki Lauda was out for five years and came back and won the third race of his comeback season.
I'm not saying its the same thing and today's F1 is markedly different from Lauda's era but Schumacher needs to dig deep and raise his game at the moment. |
I think a top 10 finish in two races speaks well for Schumy's consistency. If it hadn't been for the wheel bolt I think he was anyway slated for another top 10 finish. I think he'll deliver a podium in the next three races.

I guess alonso showed the whole field what a good driver he is, driving without clutch use for whole race and still overtaking people.
HATSOFF to him |
+1 to that. Alonso is the best driver on the grid now. And over the years he has matured. Hamilton seems to be finding more ways to be more unpopular. Contrast that to Vettel who said it in his press conference with regard to Mark Webber - "we respect each other". Hammy boy - listening??
Drive on,
Shibu.

For a driver racing after the a huge shunt last year he is doing good at the moment. I don't remember lap by lap comparison of Alonso and Massa, but if he was consistently slower how come he was ahead throughout the race?
When Alonso came to Ferrari, everybody expected Alonso to blow away Massa. That is not happening. Just like how he held his own against Kimi, he will run Alonso close this year.
Ferrari have had some issues with engine reliability, so may be they decided not to push too much towards in the end, which may explain why Massa couldn't catch Hamilton in the end (just my guess).

He's not doing something illegal. In F1 that's called being smart. The unwritten two changes in line rule among the drivers only applies at the braking zone. He did his manouver far away from the braking zone. He realized there was a loophole and used it well.
Now the FIA saw that this would ruin the racing, hence the warning. I'm sure the FIA have had a word with all the drivers making it clear that that kind of move should not happen in the future.
Sportsmanship is not even remotely related to this. If angering other drivers is unsporting, Robert Kubica would be another candidate from this weekend with that pitlane racing during qualifying. In reality, that's another smart driver exploiting the rules well. If you want examples of real unsporting behaviour, plenty of Schumacher incidents should come to mind.

Ooh since when is F1 a popularity contest? And besides, if he's getting unpopular with you, its probably because he manages spectacular results in a less than capable car and regularly nicks off points off the Ferrari and Red Bull drivers.
