Team BHPians at Abu Dhabi Desert Challange 2010

Hello All,

As part of the Emirates 4x4 group in Dubai, I was fortunate enough to called to Marshall at this years ADDC event.

Due to last minute hiccup we needed more volunteers and managed to rope in two fellow BHPians from Dubai, Milindajp and Surasen.

We did a days duty at the Al Fosan Prologue Spectator Special Stage on 27th March 2010.

The Track was about a KM long Dual Track crossing over and all competitors to do 2 timed laps. The timing to decide the flag off of for the Open Desert Stages from 28th March 2010.

The day was hot & dusty to say the lease, had hands full with various stuff. So the photo opportunities were limited. What I got I am posting here.

Will be heading out shortly for two days of Marshalling in the open Liwa desert for days 4 & 5. Will post more pictures after that.

Rehan & Others,

Actually I made a typo in earlier post. Its a X3 and not an X5.

I am attaching couple of photos of the X3 I too at the Parc ferme at the Yas Marina Circute which was the final TC of the Rally.

Hello,

Did Marshalling again on day 4 in manning the Check Point 1 from 8.00 am

The post is 25km offroad in from Deflation

Post Coordinates N22 54 41.56 – E53 34 03.17

We need to be @ Deflation N22 53 55.26 – E53 25 09.85 by 6.00am then we head towards our post.

Was too busy to take any action photos. But took a lot of photos of the terrine.

We followed the route the rallyist did in reverse direction on our return trip to Bivouac. It was really exiting. Our group's cheif marshall Saad, was one of the organisers and had done the route earlier to set up the rally cahrts.

The first 5 photos are from the Moreeb Bivouac from where the rally ran for 3 days in a Clover laef pattern.

The next 3 photos are enroute to the deflation point through Liwa Town. The next two shots are of a "gost settlement" like seen in old western movies - outskirts of Liwa town. The Saudi border is anly about 60 KM from that point.

The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, is the season opening round of the FIA & FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Cup and FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship

The last photos are from the Car & Heritage Museum in a place called Hameem (could not go in as it was closed) enroute to Liwa/Moreeb, Abu Dhabi.

While in the desert, passed a big dune where the sand was actully begining to fall of the face (sand avalance?)

There are also few photos of the Search & Rescue helicopter, which landed at our post while awaiting the cars to pass through.

My Hippo - nee Pajero- performed well in the terrine, with no assistance required, while the Patrol & Cherokee had to be towed out at couple of points on the return trip (Rally route in reverse)

Actually you did not mention X3 or X5 -- i just thought it was an X5!

In the last picture above, is that a real moster truck or a scaled down version?

Rehan,

Actually it is a Monster truck with the body of a Mecedes Benz E 240 mounted on it. I will get a few more photos of it when I am that side next time.

The Yas Marina, as you can see has come a long way from the inagural GP there last year. The Ambiance was very much there and it was a pleasure to wander around the pits etc from the quiet corners of that area, mentally relive what we saw on the TV. It was erie as well as awsome.
