Webber stays with Red Bull. Now what about Kimi?

autosport.com - F1 News: Victories set to secure Webber's future

That probably rules out a Kimi comeback :(

2 Good races for Webbo and Redbull (is it the media?) starts talking about how great he is & his contract!

F1 contracts are as good as blank papers. Better to wait until 2010 kicks off

No contract is signed yet, just hearsay. Besides, Webber could always jump ship if he gets more money elsewhere.

Plenty of teams for Kimi to choose from starting with Renault, FI, Williams.

Depends on whether the teams want to spend good money on a weekend racer who might not even be motivated enough.

Kimi's taken to rallying as a duck takes to water . 5th place finish in the Turkish rally!

I think he'll stay with citroen till he gets the factory ride.

I have given up on any hopes of a Kimi return. If he does make a comeback then it's a bonus. He seems to be more at home in rallying, so can't really see him making a comeback irrespective of what happens to Webber.
BTW, is Vettel's future certain with RBR? What if Vettel is on his way out to a team like Ferrari (though i don't see it happening while Alonso is there)

yeah right
That's pretty lame and old excuse. Time to move on.

Renault tried poaching him. Couldn't afford. If they can't, FI or Williams surely cannot. And Vettel has a contract with RB for next year I believe.

Webber might be nicked by Ferrari to replace Massa and then the Iceman can return in style with RBR .

He is getting over-rated for just 2 good races for him! Come on...

That is the highest he's ever placed.

Mind you, there are only 5 teams in WRC

Citroen Total WRT - Loeb & Sordo
Junior Citroen - Ogier & Raikkonen
Ford Abu Dhabi WRT - Hirvonnen & Latvala
Stobart Ford - Matthew Wilson
Munchi's Ford - Henning Solberg
Petter Solberg WRT and Monster (Ken Block) are privateers.

Infact, Kimi didn't even participate in the last round in New Zealand.
Thats how serious he's about WRC.
I think he's just having fun for an entire season.
Unlike Valentino Rossi who does the final WRC round after the MotoGP season.

Kimi has said that he would only join a race winning/championship fighting team. Not the easiest thing, trying to make a comeback after a sabbatical.

That is because his team chose not to go. It was decided even before the WRC season started. It's got nothing to do with Kimi's interest in the WRC.

So, why did his team-mate Sebastien Ogier of the Citroen Junior team participate?

There have been a total of 5 rallies until now, this year.
He's participated in 3 of the 5.
In The first one, he made it to the finish line.
In the second, he crashed out.
In the third, he came 5th after the attrition of top guys like Hirvonnen, Dani Sordo.

This is the first time that a F1 driver has moved to WRC and I would call this an excellent case study for future F1 drivers looking to move to drive on surfaces where the traction is different at every corner.
