If you've ever wondered what the inside of Race Control looks like, here it is. Pic courtesy a fellow marshal from my sector.

McLaren,

Good picture.

You should be reporting in tomorrow, right? So what is the set up there in Singapore? Are they providing you guys with accommodation in the Circuit itself or are you free to go back home and report back each day?

All the best

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Well, its over! And I now have all of one Grand Prix under my belt

This has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Turn 5 turned out to be an exciting spot for crashes during practice and qualifying, though we were rather surprised at the lack of incidents there during the race. Its difficult to explain the supreme happiness you get going home knowing you did your job and were a part of F1! Four days, almost completely spent on the track, and I just couldn't get enough of it. For anyone out there volunteering for the Indian GP in GTO's thread, I hope you make it. It will be absolutely amazing, so please give it your best shot.

It was hard work and we were properly drained out, physically and mentally, by the fourth day, but you hardly notice it thanks to the sheer excitement of the moment. And apart from the best seats in the house, I ended up with loads of merchandise, driver autographs and photos and some really cool walks in the pitlane. It is really a fantastically rewarding experience. And I'm pretty sure I see motor racing in a very different way now. Being a marshal gives you a really invaluable insight into how everything works. The only major complaint I have is that the Monday that follows comes with the worst Monday blues of them all.

So if you're even remotely interested in motorsport and you can spare a few days from your work/school, there isn't anything I would recommend more. As for me, I've already started counting down to the 2011 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix.

Gentlemen, start your engines!

Congrats McLaren_Rulez (though late than never).

Would like to know in details about the race through the eyes of an insider? Please post a detailed perspective of the race.

Thanks in advance.

Ok guys, here is a pic of our very own Marshall. I know this is not a very good pic but I didn't want to disturb him and shot this with zoom.

Oh dear! What's my tongue doing??

It was nice meeting you, Jaguar, though our chat was rather brief. How was the race for you?

Abu Dhabi F1

Not to hijack McLaren Rulez's thread, but I feel the thread title makes this appropriate here.

As in 2009, TBHPians will be doing duty at Abu Dhabi F1 as Flag Marshalls, Intervention Marshalls and Recovery Marshalls.

As can be seen from McLaren Rulez's thread, the Marshalls really can not put any views on the open forums, as per the code of conduct, so please don't expect any "inside looks"

Will let you know who all will be on duty in a week or two

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

McLaren,

Can we use this thread to post about being part of F1 Marshall.

Believe me this breed is going to increase in TBHP with the Indian one with an year.

If you agree I will put in few Marshalling photos etc from Abu Dhabi. Others might want to add on as well

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Ram
