Hello,

F1 invokes lot on interest and anything associated with F1 grabs the same attention.

Always been wondering how are the logistics / accommodation / food etc etc ...basically the back end process of the entire F1. Is there a website, source from where I can get these info. IS there a series on this on either NatGeo or Discovery.

Try a torrent search you may get lucky.

The logistics are mostly handled by the FOM ( Bernie's company ). The teams stuff is loaded into containers and transported by road ( if the race is in Europe ) or by air ( elsewhere ). The trucks are then dispatched directly to each of the team's factories. In some cases, where the races are back to back, the trucks are directly sent to the next race.

The teams do their own logistics, don't they? During the ash cloud, a McLaren employee narrated how the McLaren race car got new parts because this chap jumped into a car with the updated parts and drove five hours straight to get to an airport from which a plane managed to fly to China. Similarly, I think they take care of accomodation for their members.

AFAIK:
The teams have their own trucks to transport the car and parts for races in Europe .
For the "fly away" races to Asia , Australia , South America the teams pack their stuff into containers which are then flown in Bernie's transport aircraft .
The only "sail away" race which is Turkey recieves the containers of the cars through the sea route from a port in Italy.
The hotel arrangements and travel of various team people is done by the team themselves .
Some critical parts may also be flown in at the last moment by the teams .

For Formula One racing teams one of the biggest battles of a race weekend or testing session will be over before a car even turns a wheel: the vast logistical effort required to get all of the team's equipment to the circuit - so vast, in fact, that the sport has its very own Official Logistics Partner, DHL. Indeed each team competing in the FIA Formula One World Championship now travels something like 160,000 kilometres (100,000 miles) a year between races and test sessions.
