bahrain Top Fuel Drag

hi guys

Got a lifetime of an opportunity to see the stuff this dragster Top Fuel or funny car as known is made of.
the spectacle has to be seen to really see what its like.

I had the days events on my cam on the first day 10 nov which was of street class / super street / pro class.
day 11 nov 19.00 hrs the actual event i was not allowed to shoot as the BIC (Bahrain International Circuit) announced for misappropriation of facts and usage of the event and circuit in general - some vague funda so i had to keep the cam back in car or if caught the tape would be taken.

this weird looking machine must be seen taking off its awesome!

anyways heres some pics

UAE Pontiac came in 2nd
the first was a Bahraini Camaro 1969 v12 clocking 6.693 @ 347.67kmph

Kuwaiti contender/Z28

Kuwaiti Mustang

Kuwaiti BUSA

Damn you !!! Are you lucky or what??? Those cars look mad.....and the camaro timing is a testimony to their meaness. Do these cars participate in international events too? It will be awesome to see them going against UK and US dragsters...............All I can say is they are awesome and you are f***** lucky.

the bike is a busa and looks heavily modded, extended swingarm, turbo, and a cool paintjob

Nice pix man..And i wonder why mostly the muscle cars are used in drags? Can't a supra, skyline etc deliver the same power??

And the Camaro clocking 6.6sec is just nuts!! then hw much would it take to get to the 100kmph mark??

It looks like they ARE imported whole from the US.

Awesome pics. Were there any real Top Fuelers or was the event just named that way?

Ananth u r right the cars are picked direct from the US from professional dragsters. the machines are already producing in excess of 800hp and then they are further tuned up to 1000+. The winning camaro pumped 1360hp.

Well the funny top fuel car was there at almost 30 feet long.
here are some stats from the displays.
8000cc
6000 hp
8000rpm
supercharger pumps 100,000 cubic inches of air per Minute.
60 ltrs nitromethane burnt in one burnout
600+kgs of downforce is created
120 db noise recorded
acceleration 5G's
0 to 480kmph to 0 in 17 seconds
driver: Trevor Capwell - British

UAE Camaro

Any info which car this is??

Aryan the Bahraini guy who had a 6.512secs @ 356kmph record in previous drag on this same machine could clock only 347.. but still was the Winner. The car is nicknamed "GREEN GIANT" This is a 1969 V12 Camaro.

Bahrain Camaro at launch

Chevrolet Cavalier

actual top fuel car friends mobile during the trial run on Nov 10

Is that a typo...must be 7 seconds not 17. Cause 0 to 480 lasts only 4 seconds & deceleration must be less than that since they use a 'chute to stop.

Also the first pic looks more like a Cavalier than a Camaro...are you sure?

Second one (the black one with fog lights on) is a Pontiac Firebird...probably super street not funny car.

V12 camaro....never heard of it...must be a V8.

YES thats a typo. they had advertised prior to the drag that it would be doing 530 but then this is what could be achieved. btw the drag was supposed to take place at 7.30pm but it only happened at 12.15 am. some said it was due to windy conditions but the organisers made no comment.

yes u r right again.
some jumble up on my part with the links from photobucket.

THIS 1969 camaro was bought by Aryan for approx 70 lacs from a drag racer Pat Musi based in New Jersey US.
A v12 was put in by Pat Musi designed and tuned.

btw i have not seen the engine but this is the info I gathered on visit to where the cars were sitting for final tunings prior to the drag.
i too feel it should be a V8 as the engine hood externally does not seem to have space to accomodate a 10, a 12seems far fetched.

heres the car which had the best paint job obviously a rich Kuwaiti.
