Ha, and I was wondering why the Jaguar noses were painted red. Didnt know it was because of the sponsorship. Fitting a diamond on the nose of an F1 car in monaco is like lighting up a cigarette on an oil rig.

Spa 98 was both, a tragedy and comedy of sorts. A win was very very crucial to the championship fight of Hakkinen and Schumacher. It was pouring cats and dogs through some parts of the race. The first start was aborted since there was a MASSIVE crash involving like 15+ F1 cars. Its depressing to see the damage on some of that fabulous machinery.

Then, Schumacher was leading the race (they dont call him Rainmaster for nothing) and was about to overlap Coulthard. Coulthard slows down moving slightly off the racing line. Schumacher, unable to see a thing in the spray, ramms into the back of Coulthard. It is still debatable and a highly controversial topic - Whether DC did it on purpose or not.

If you want a fantastic highlight of the race, remind me to get it along at the next meet.

Well...you know what they say...any publicity is good publicity...or something like that!

And I'm sure they must have recovered in publicity what they lost by all the articles in the newspapers alone!

hmmm...me thinks this was all part of the plan!

Just an update to the topic,

The following is a release from Jaguar Racing.

The Geneva based Steinmetz Diamond Group and Jaguar Racing can confirm the loss of a flawless round brilliant diamond embedded in the nosecone of one of the Jaguar R5 F1 cars that raced at Monaco this weekend.

Steinmetz was glad to see that the Austrian driver Christian Klein was unhurt after his car hit the barriers at the Loews hairpin. Both Steinmetz and Jaguar Racing were saddened by the loss of a unique piece of Grand Prix memorabilia that was destined to be auctioned for charity at a later date.
