Interlagos 2010 Brazilian F1 GP Pre-race rumblings

Interlagos 2010 Brazilian F1 GP Pre-race rumblings
Alright here's a few bits that have been doing the rounds in the build up to this weekends highly anticipated race!
  • Fernando Alonso leads by 11 points over Mark Webber making him the hot favorite and he can wrap up his 3rd WDC if he ;
    1. Finished 1st and MW comes no higher than fourth
    2. Finishes 2nd and MW is eighth or below, Hamilton is fourth or below, Vettel does not win
    3. Finishes 3rd and MW does not collect any points, Hamilton is fifth or below, Vettel is fourth or below
    4. Any other scenario and we go to Abu Dhabi to decide the 2010 WDC title
  • Massa has announced his 'professional' support to Alonso as has Button to Hamilton (depending on the in race situation). - To add a twist to this Massa has been threatened with legal action by Brazilian prosecutors if he 'defrauds' the public by fixing the result!
  • Webber has been gone public in his displeasure with RBR's apparently open 'emotional' support for Vettel and the 'inconvenience' his title bid has caused at RBR giving rise to speculation he may leave RBR. Vettel retorted on German TV - "If Mark needs help then he should take the medical car." Webber though has since then insisted that he will remain at RBR next year.
  • RBR is backing both rivers equally going into the Brazilian GP but will make a call to support either one driver before Abu Dhabi.
  • Hamilton is convinced he is still in the title hunt and prefers chasing for the WDC pole over the next 2 races.

Hulkenberg P1! Must have been an epic qualifying session.
Pathetic ESPN Star again doesn't show live quali broadcast

Top ten in order
Hulkenberg,Vettel, Webber,Hamilton, Alonso,Barrichello,Kubica, MSC,Massa and Petrov.
Liuzzi 17, Sutil 18, just ahead of the new teams. Sutil has a ten place penalty in addition. RIP Force India.

In another few more minutes, ESPN is telecasting the qualifying, but it would more be an anticlimax for us.

Very surprised by the qualifying, looks like, more in store on the raceday

Today's TOI says that the if massa plays second fiddle to Alonso and gives in for team orders then massa will be sentenced to jail for 6 years according to some brazilian newspaper quote. Game on Ferrari, all eyes on the red scuderia Ferrari.

Well, no need to jail him now. He is three places below Alonso and unless he get one of his rare spurts of brilliance, he is not going to go anywhere.

Given the late timing yesterday, sleep robbed me of the last session of quali. Was amazed to read about the HULK on pole. Wow!! It's advantage Red Bull - should be a RACE!!

Nico Rosberg who has been consistently out performing Schumy has fallen behind in this race. Is this a result of schumy being a better driver in the wet?

I feel Massa should first think about gaining his lost form than play a second fiddle to Alonso, its better for him that way in his homeground.

And yes, Schumi sure seems to have gained his touch Only 2011 and his new car can tell.

My only sad feeling is Force India. On how they lost being the front runners mid season.

Hulkenberg humbled the Red Bull's by over a second . He can be sure of a place next year regardless of the race tomorrow .

Williams have got a pole after five long years and this can only help them to find some sponsors . They are in dire need of the money .

Jenson Button need not bother about helping Hamilton and Massa should not be worried about helping Alonso after a very below par qualifying for them .

Cant wait for the race to begin!

Hulkenberg was most probably running a dry setup
ie. lower ride height, stiffer damping, rollbars.
So, in Q3, while the others just mounted slicks onto cars setup for the wet, the hulk happily was on a car setup for a total dry track. Happily made the 1 second over the red bulls.

This was probably a risky decision. And he got lucky.
If the car was really that good, his brazilian teammate, Barichello would have taken pole on home soil.

I don't think anybody gambled on wet setup because today is expected to be sunny. So Hulkenberg was on similar setup as everybody else.
It was down to his tyres being in right temperatures compared to others. Thats what Rubens says.

Hulkenberg's pole position has made things even more interesting. The redbulls would be hoping to jump him on the start and hope that he holds up the rest, atleast till they have opened up a lead. The other scenario is if Hulkenberg has a decent start, the drivers behind him would look to attack, especially Hamilton and Vettel.

The men with the most to lose - Alonso and Webber would first ensure that they do not get involved in a first corner pile up. With no Massa to help him, Alonso will look to finish the race as close to or ahead of Webber. May the best/luckiest man win!

What a boring race 43 laps up and no incidents.

Redbulls have all but themselves to blame in not making a WDC.

Looks like Alonso has already won the WDC this year.

Not sure Avi, but looks like Webber will finish P2, and if Alonso finishes P3.

Its like the final nail in the coffin for Webber's WDC hopes. Poor chap, i pity him.

Anyways, the last race will be a 3 way fight, good for we fans
