The last race. Valencia marks as an end to the Moto-GP 2011 Championship. The championship is won by Casey Stoner astride a Honda RC211V and the constructor's title goes to Honda.
This year's race comes to an end & I have following thoughts -
--Stoner is champ and his win totals and podiums this year have only been matched by a few in the history of GP
--Lorenzo changed his number to 1 this year, and I hope he enjoyed it while it lasted, 'cuz it's going bye bye
--Dovi loved Marco and will be wearing the #58 on the chest of his leathers for the race...He'll also be battling Pedro for 3rd place in the points race
--Pedrosa is still healing from all his injuries, but he's still one of the strongest riders on the grid...I hope he and Dovi go at it on the track
--Spies is right where he's been all year, 5th place
--Rossi and Hayden will be battling for points to see who finishes ahead of the other...Will Nicky pull something out and beat Rossi?
This week-end will be quite an eventful one. We have a tribute for Marco Simoncelli which won't be a 1 minute silence. All bikes will be on full throttle for a minute as honor for him. I am sure it is a fitting tribute.
With love Quote: A planned moment of silence at the Valencia Grand Prix this weekend may be changed to a ceremony more fitting a fierce racer.
MotoGP planned a moment of silence to honor the memory of recently killed MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli.
Simoncelli's father, Paolo, requested something more in line with what "Super Sic" would appreciate.
The elder Simoncelli suggested instead that all of the bikes of MotoGP be throttle whipped for one minute, that this was something his son would appreciate.
Given the festive atmosphere at Valencia, and the popularity of throttle whipping streetbikes downtown, there's little chance that the race bikes will sing alone. |

This week-end shall bring an end to Loris Capirossi's career too. He debuted in 1990. I am sure many racers were born after that & not many can match him, still. Loris Capirossi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thans Loris for the wonderful show you put up Will miss ya.
This week-end will bring an end to the glorious 2 stroke era as well. Long live the strokers. |
