Greetings from the Hills

Hi Everyone,

This is from Tura, Meghalaya, yes, the state that gets the heaviest rainfall in the world ! With hills, people are associated with 4 X 4s and we have Jeeps in our area still running like Willys, Ford, yet once in a while you see a Yeti, Thar, or Mahindra. But I believe the best Off-road vehicle is still the Series 3 Landrover which is more or a workhorse than a comfortable off-roader like the Fortuner. However, if you decide to discover the Garo Hills Districts of Meghalaya, the best way is to trek rather than to take your vehicle and get stuck. The roads changes during the rains and many areas are difficult to access, yet the local villagers swear by the footpaths that are used in their local weekly market trips. If you never imagined such an outing, welcome to the wild and weird !!

Re: Greetings from the Hills

Welcome to the forum, Ratan. I hope you have an awesome time, browsing through some of site. Just the other day, after reading one article: http://www.storypick.com/37-reasons-...ia-before-die/ me and a bunch of my friend are deciding about visiting north-eastern India in Oct. or Nov. I hope I'll get some tips and insights from you before this dream becomes a reality.

Re: Greetings from the Hills

Welcome Ratan. I remember admiring a lot of Willys, Jeeps with ML registration having tastefully designed canvas hoods and doing all kind of jobs. Do post some pictures 4X4s from Meghalaya!
