Dear BHP-ians, Just joined this wonderful forum with its meaningful reviews and sharing of data. I am well into my 50s. Learnt to drive on a Standard Herald -doesn't seem so long ago but before many other BHPians were born perhaps. Have owned the following cars - Standard Herald, Maruti 800, Padmini, Cielo, Opel Astra, Opel Corsa, Laura, Superb, Jazz & Zen (original one) and the good old Lambretta. I am in the aviation business. If any time a BHPian needs some serious inputs on aircrafts or a particular type I would be happy to answer. Though I am surrounded by aero gas turbines every day I still find the 4 stroke internal combustion romantic. I look forward to more than a few years of reading and sharing. Best wishes to all.

Hello V.Narayan, Welcome to Team-BHP.

Of course the list of your cars is quite interesting, but being an aviation enthusiast too, I am definitely also interested in knowing more about which gas turbine engines surround you at work :D How about naming a few of them or atleast the aircraft that they hang on?

Once again welcome on board and try going through the Announcements Section to get a better idea about the forum.

Dear Stratos, the engines my business works on are several. An illustrative list is - Honeywell TFE731 & Pratt JT15D on mid-sized business jets; the Williams FJ44 on small business jets, the Pratt & Whitney PT-6A on small turboprops, the CFM series on the Boeing 737 etc. The latest commercial engines now manage with 'on the pod maintenance' for several years. It is interesting how through a process of continuous improvement the same basic engine continues in production for 30 to 40 years in improved forms. Delighted to be on this forum. Love reading it. Never been an internet person and my wife is now wondering why I am sitting with a laptop every evening!

Welcome to the group.

Interesting suites of engines. Impressive. What is the business end which you work on? Maintenance (or) service?
Coming from the design/analysis division of an aircraft engine manufacturer, I agree with you that the business extract the max performance out of the engine & for a very long time. They make sure that the new engines are loaded with new technology which will survive the market for 25-30 years. And each engine manufacturer makes sure this happens every time by innovation. Very exciting field.

Welcome. There are about 2 -3 thread on aircraft started by pilot members of this forum. You can contribute there or still better , start a fresh thread to share your knowledge.

I am in the aviation maintenance and upgrades field.

Dear raju2512, Thank you for the valuable suggestion. Once I get the hang of writing and pasting on this forum I will pen the odd note on aircraft designed and built in India. I contribute on this subject on other technical forums so have a decent amount of data but I'll embellish it with anecdotes that readers might find interesting. I am not competent with the internet will take time to learn.

Welcome to the community, takes a bit of getting used to, but it's a superb bunch of people.
Looking forward to seeing your posts on the aviation threads.
