| A perfect start to 2015

It’s great to be here. This is the best way to start the year 2015. A humble thanks to the moderators for approving my membership. Background:
In 2012 I started to look for a replacement for my aging Tata Safari. I bought my safari in 2003 and this was my constant companion in all my trips. I loved it massive road presence. But at the same time I hated the maintenance cost over the years. Family was insisting me to replace this beast. I was initially reluctant since this was my dream SUV and I bought this against my dad’s choice of Toyota Qualis. That time my heart ruled over the brain. I started my research on internet and came to know about Team-BHP. It is a treasure trove and precisely what I was looking for. It is quite sad that I was not aware of Team-BHP earlier. Even today, I fondly remember spending countless night reading various ownership threads and finally zeroed in on Mahindra XUV 500 W8. SDP’s thread helped me to make this decision. I am glad today that I made that decision.
That was the start. Soon like many, I tried for the coveted membership. Failed in several attempts. Don’t recall how many. Then I stopped applying for several months after one such rejection from the mods (no blame game). I became a regular reader to compensate for the loss of not being a member. When they came with those hoodies I was on cloud 9 and bought them immediately. Almost a week back I tried my luck again. This time lady luck was with me and I am IN. Proud to be a BHPian. About Myself:
I am born and brought up in Trivandrum. I work as Group Technical Specialist in an IT company. I live in Chennai for more than a decade now. My Ride:
I own an XUV W8 that my wife takes to office and I drive a Thar. My dad owns an Ambassador which is primarily used as a taxi in my home town. My interest:
Since I work in the IT industry, naturally computers are my first interest as they are my bread and butter. Off roading is next line. I participated in few SUV Excursion events organized by Terra Tigers and learned the basics of off roading with Thar. These experiences are really eye opening as I learned the true might of my Thar. These events also helped me to get to know who’s who in the off road arena in Chennai.
Thanks to the amazing travelogues, traveling to distant places become an integral part during my family vacations. After we bought our XUV we have covered much distance than we could do with our old Safari.
In a nut shell, I am trying to reclaim my life, as they say, after the discovery of www.team-bhp.com.
Looking forward to learn from the experts here and might contribute what I know as well.
